Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

A steady and solid knock for Sachin out there. Hope it helps him a lot with regards to scoring in this series.

Espnstar Sports should telecast this games, they will get good TV rating. (probably more than big bash)
i remember in early 2000's DD Sports used to telecast this practice games played by opposition team against India Domestic side.

ESS did telecast one practice game of India in 2007 when they toured England.

Sachin should score those 8 runs quickly for his hundred, and gives the likes of Rohit Sharma and Kohli a decent hit in the middle.

Guess Tendulkar didn't want to waste a 100 on a tour game :p
Nicely done by Boyce, continues to pick up wickets.

If they are retired, how does that mean they are out? Why does it say 292/5? And why does it say "retired hurt" for Sachin and "retired out" for Laxman? Is Sachin hurt?

Not good for Kohli to get out like this when you have Rohit Sharma at the other end scoring runs and also trying to secure Kohli's No.6 spot in the XI for MCG. A fifty here for Rohit can do him a lot of favor when Dhoni picks that No.6 spot for MCG.

Edit: Rohit onto 41* now. Want him to get that half century. That can push Kohli hard for the next game. Also I want to see Rohit in the side for MCG.

9.Batsman retiring
A batsman may retire at any time during his innings when the ball is dead. The umpires, before allowing play to proceed shall be informed of the reason for a batsman retiring.
(a) If a batsman retires because of illness, injury or any other unavoidable cause, he is entitled to resume his innings subject to (c) below. If for any reason he does not do so, his innings is to be recorded as ?Retired - not out?.
(b) If a batsman retires for any reason other than as in (a) above, he may resume his innings only with the consent of the opposing captain. If for any reason he does not resume his innings it is to be recorded as ?Retired - out?.
(c) If after retiring a batsman resumes his innings, it shall be only at the fall of a wicket or the retirement of another batsman.

Is Kohli spot really under pressure? I haven't seen him play in Test and mainly seen his scorecards in ODI cricket but a guy doing what he's been doing in ODI cricket 3x100s, 2x80s from 11 matches is pretty dam consistent. Also I notice he made two fifties in his last test, looks like he is finally settling into Test cricket? As I said I haven't seen him play and don't know what he did in the first 3 Test matches but unless he's doing a Hughes surely he would be worth sticking with for at least this series.

Well, tbh I would not like to see Kohli in the test side for now. He is in the squad on basis of his form. He failed back again today caught and bowled to Boyce. IMO I would love to see Rohit Sharma in the test side, he has been a better player of bouncing deliveries. Rest all is same attitude wise, both have hell loads of attitude :facepalm

But yes, for the ODI side no one dares to compete with Virat, he is just too good and can handle the pressure very well. Last year that 2010 season for India he was really something special that happened

I really hope Ponting comes out before Boxing Day and says I am retiring after the Sydney Test. Coz then everyone will get off his back and he can relax, and enjoy his last few games. He doesnt want to retire but he needs too. He'll be 37 come Boxing Day, its time.

Rohit is more talented than Kohli and current form of Rohit is as good as Kohli.
10 Matches - 6 Fifty (1x90, 3x80)
Another thing which is in favour of Rohit is that he is very good against short stuffs like other some mumbai batsman. (Gavaskar, Dilip, Sachin)

Anyway, Kohli should be given chance in First Test match as he done well in previous test match which india played.

I would not say Rohit is more talented than Kohli but I would surely say he has better temperament than Kohli. Kohli has an excellent ODI record which Rohit does not have even after getting more chances than Kohli. So you can't compare both of them as they both are equally talented.

I don't know why Virat can not convert his ODI form into Test. He is a verygood player and I would like to see him doing well in all formats.

I would have Rohit at no 6 in test.

How can you say he cannot convert his ODI form into tests? He has only played 7 test innings! 7! Virat is just as good as Pujara or Rohit Sharma. What's on his side is that he has so much international experience now. His attitude and temperament is not a problem. That's what makes him so good. Just look at KP when he lost that extra bite. Some players thrive on that aggression. Ultimately, I don't care who takes the #6 spot as long as he does well but in my opinion Virat has done enough to at least get the chance to prove himself by being given a few chances to do so.

But the problem is, his competitor in the squad, Rohit Sharma, deserves it as much or even better. Even Rohit Sharma's ODI form in recent times has been exemplary. He hasnt had as many hundreds as Kohli but he has been exemplary in the last two series in WI and in India against WI. He seems to be a changed player these days (after the initial criticism about his laziness). Technique wise, both are tight enough, but I think Rohit might edge ahead because he can play short pitched bowling better.

The second test is at Sydney. So you want Ponting to play only two tests and retire?

This series could see some high profile unexpected retirements. I hope not :(.
