Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

Christian and Starc left out, at least the selectors aren't hell bent on keeping a left armer, seems they were trying Starc out against NZ to see how he would go knowing they could fall back on the safer options. I'm hoping Hilfy has improved else it could be a long test match.

Yes that's the way it needed to go: either Marsh+Hilf or Christian+Starc. With no all-rounder playing (or if Lyon gets targetted) then the 3rd paceman will need to bowl a lot, and Clarke is far more likely to trust Hilf with the ball than Starc. I'm not convinced Hilf will be super penetrative but at least George Bailey was talking him up pretty hard last week - that's usually a decent sign.

I don't know much about this Ed Cowan guy but looks pretty confident character.

P.S. I have heard on many news channels and also read on cricinfo that Ishant and Zaheer are "Raring to go" . Don't exactly know what is going on.

Why do announce the lineup 2 days in advance? Is it to build a mental pressure on other side or is it again the new stupid policy in CA?

I wish Christmas would hurry up and be over with so we can celebrate something more meaningful - A test series between India and Australia.

Merry christmas/Bade Din ki Mubarak all :D

Does the MRF foundation in Chennai already not do that ?

That was a private institution that was developing fast bowlers. Here, they are just picking a pool of fast bowlers and monitoring their fitness/progress.

And I thought their curator mentioned about retaining as much grass as possible to keep the Indian batsman at bay? Looks an absolute belter now.
