Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

I liked Clarke's declaration - attacking cricket, selfless captaincy, the touch of the unexpected that's been such a trademark for Warne's protege...

...but I'm not enjoying watching Australia chasing leather!

I'd go a big different this time and say that Tendulkar will get out within 20 runs in this innings. Wont mind being proved wrong. :spy

Dhoni the test captain has to step down. I`d say have someone like Zaheer as the captain and infuse new life. Dhoni`s style of captaincy, however successful it might have been in the past, is becoming stale now. It may not be his mistake entirely but its time we have a new test captain. That might push Dhoni the batsman to do better as well. India were a completely different team overseas in the 2000s and the attitude they`ve shown in England and in the two tests here is not of a side who was confident overseas in the 2000s.

To have defensive fields with the opposition at 27/4, 200/6, 37/3 and 178/8 is not excusable. Its plain bad captaincy.

Haddin needs to go, completely mis timed and managed to drop Gambhir on 68, wouldn't be surprised if he makes a big score. Bring Tim Paine into the side or another young keeper.

Haddin can't bat, Haddin can't keep, and yet he happens to be retained by the national side. Yeah makes sense.

Haddin's never been a great keeper, but he's dropped some real howlers lately. I guess Wade would be the next guy in line, but I'm not sure whether he'd actually be much better in the keeping role. Time to find out IMO - the Victorian should be our primary keeper for the limited overs matches later in the season. He can open against the white ball, IIRC.

Champion knock from Clarkey, hats off! Mammoth total and we are already looking down the barrel here even after an okay-ish start. Gambhir played well and was lucky there in the end, thank you Haddin. What I cannot understand is batsmen going into the shell. Sachin is surely not the sort of guy who can survive when he's playing for survival. And, today he might have but, there was that inside edge which could have easily hit the stumps. Why not play normally? Surely, two whole days to bat with 8 wickets in hand is a bit too much and I don't see our batsmen lasting that long unless rain comes in...

if aussies didnt declared clarke would have had a 400+* betting the record of lara

Pattinson must be mad. How many edges did he draw?

Was the one that went short to Clarke also bowled by Pattinson?

You'd have to say, for all that Pattinson has excellent career figures so far, they could have been even better with a touch more luck. I remember Lyon getting a few wickets that should have been Patto's against NZ as well.

I missed most of the last hour, I noticed Hilfy was swinging it in the last few overs, when did he start doing that?
