BOWLING CONFIGS - Testers needed

Zimrahil, I have batted for the first time with the new settings, The pace and medium-fast bowlers were excellent to bat against, plenty of bounce, I was able to go off the back foot, very pleasing. I used the same bowling speeds as I posted the other day. I also noticed more bounce off the pitch having struck the ball. The only problem concerned leg spin, the cpu bowled a decent length, however, the number of byes was a bit of a problem, many deliveries cleared the cpu keepers shoulder, this was not a problem when I bowled as I adjusted my length accordingly, obviously the cpu is not so clever!, if I could suggest anything it would be that you try to produce a leg spin seting that could be installed when we bat, with just a little less bounce (when pitching after delivery), the current legspin is fine for when we bowl. This theory,a little less bounce when we bat, could also be applied to off-spin. These ideas relate to a hard pitch, I am playing most of my cricket on these pitches now, I have finally come to terms with bowling to cpu with your test configs on a hard pitch! (clue: success involves use of the speed boost button,or not, for pace bowlers!)

yes paul
i also have the same problem
when i bowled with off spim bowler , i set the indicator near to the batsmen's leg (almost in a sweeping postion), but the bowl bounced to sholders of the keeper, thatsonly the problem, other than that fast bowlers have no problem plenty of bounce it was great to bat like that, only thing u have retify is for the spinners :(

nice work zimrahil..i got your ..test config which u sent me yesterday..i've set u a mail..and given u afeedback after i tested it..in short..u have done agreat work..keep it up
thanx
dippyslara
pls send me some more of your exciting patches nad configs to
[email protected]

Paul et all
ok, will reduce the bounce for the spinners - what about the swing bowlers though ?
However, will need 2 set of configs though to do as you ask .Ie one set of configs when bowling , one when batting.

Will send them soon

regards

ok,
new files are being sent to all those who asked. The bounce on hard and dusty pitches have been reduced as requested.
Please once again let me know how it goes. Ie is the bouce now about right, or not reduced enough etc.

Paul, once we get these right, I might send them to Ste, or you can use them in your test match enhancement patch

dippyslara,
thanks for your kind words. I have sent you the ODI cpu batting enhancement patch, not sure if your mailbox can cope with the size of the files. Let me know if any problem

regards

Zimrahil thanks for the files, spin is now just about perfect, leg and off, bounce is just right, no byes over keeper shoulder, As for swing, I will have to let you know, I rarely use swing bowlers as I can not find a setting I am happy with, until we work out how to make fast bowlers swing the ball, we must be able to!, I think this will remain the case.

Just off the point a little, in my earlier post I referred to bowling against cpu, on a hard pitch, with your test configs, my query centred around use of the speed boost button for fast bowlers, I would be interested to know how often you, and others, use this feature, for example I used to add boost to get maximum pace, almost every delivery, I was not taking wickets and the cpu was posting decent totals, now I vary it much more, sometimes never in an over, I have found that I am having much more joy in taking wickets, ie. cpu all out 129, on a hard pitch, 6 catches to keeper and slip, is it possible that the cpu "knows" that you have put more effort into a delivery and plays accordingly, (when you have used boost), I have found that the same delivery, in terms of line and length will take the edge more often when I have not used boost. I realise this is slightly off the point, however, I find it interesting to toy with the idea of how "clever" the cpu is, after all, when we have adjusted the pitch condition, ie. more movement and bounce the cpu has adjusted accordingly, eg. when leaving the ball outside off and when batting on a high movement value green pitch, and, when you have adjusted the fielder throwing speed the cpu no longer takes a quick single to the fielder. As I say, I find all this interesting regarding gameplay. Any thoughts?

Hi,
I was wondering what files and what part of the files are being altered for these bowling configs? Are there seperate files for ODI and Tests and will this be made in to a patch?

Thanks, :) :) :)

Paul,
I've always found, that if you use the speed boost button with a fast bowler, the cpu more often than not plays an attacking shot. And I agree that you get more success if you don't use speed boost, even with fast-medium bowlers.

Leigh
the files in question are
fast.cfg
offspin.cfg
legspin.cfg
swing.cfg

Values being changed are the xz and y restitution values. See previous posts for more info.

Paul, when you use the boost option there is increase in probability of an attacking shot or an edge being played. Its like a trade off ; do you use the boost and risk being hit for 4 in the hope of increased chance of a nick ? I quite like that.

Cpu definately makes adjustment to increased movement as well as fielders throwing speed. It also adjusts upto a point when you increase bowling speeds too. Shots used and direction of shots can be controlled by us. Timing of shots we can control also.
The area I would like to look at is making the fielder throw somewhere other than right over the stumps all the time. It would be great if we could induce overthows. Any ideas anyone.

Also Paul do you think your test enhancement patch will be out by xmas ? If so you might as well use my configs. If not, if I get more positive feedback I will send them to Ste

Regards

yaaa i used ur files zim... excellent work... lots of bye scoring first but then after second configs it works well now... but still i think there is little bit error with spin bowler... it looks that kumble is bowling :)
but anyway bounce is really now.... i like it zim... but still i m testing on it.. on every wicket...
good work
best regards

thanks for your feedback - I am glad you are trying it on all pitches too. I am curious what changes people might want on normal , damp and green pitches.

Thanks again
zimrahil

ya zim.... really i m interested in damp wicket how the ball bounce? i will try it n tell u soon

Zimrahil, "Timing of shots we can control also", by this do you mean key-frames, ie. what happens with each key-frame in terms of the atr. files, or the stroke timing section in tinternat and tcompbat? Regarding the overthrows, interesting this one, I have adjusted the throwing speeds of various close in fielders, made them stronger, every now and again the fielder will hit the stumps, and the ball will go for 4 extras, this is not the same as a wayward throw though, I think this may have to do however, as we can not alter the direction of throws, only power, I think, having looked at most captures, nothing stood out as being an obvious "overthrow capture", this though is not defenitive as a couple of captures could be sequenced to resemble overthrows, no idea how to do this though, settings?.
Regarding the test improvements I am still no further on with the sound files, it is probably best if you send the bowling configs to blc, I do-not think your hard pitch tweak can be improved upon .

Zim,
One thing that would be good would be to incorporate a gradual deterioration in the wickets over the course of a 5-day game.(Knowing you have to bat on day 5 to chase a small target/save the game on a wicket that is poorer than on previous days would add to the realism.).
(Has anyone noticed if this is already in the game, coz I haven't).
I guess the only way to do this would be to have seperate bowling .cfg files for each day, which would show more seam movement for fast bowlers, more turn for spinners etc., and apply these on each new day -( pretty fiddly!) - unless you have any other ideas.

ya jonah i noticed it... the pitch looks very poor....
n zim plz try to make 1 thing on damp pitch with the bounce plz can u add 1 or 2 balls in over kept low... is it possible
