West Indies A vs. England

1st Tour Match - 50 Overs

Cricket20052006-09-2022-50-52-79.jpg

Broadcasting today, are Michael Holding and Tony Grieg.

So, Tony what are you expecting today?
I'm expecting KP and Flintoff to run rampant over the Windies bowlers, but if Ganga and Ramdin get going, they could be hard to stop.
What about the bowlers though? Both teams boast some pretty good bowlers.
Best and Lawson can be trouble but the English have the stars here today. With names like Harmison, Hoggard, Collingwood, Flintoff and Panesar they could knock the Windies over for quite a small total.
Hoggard? Why is he starting when others have put their hands up? I personally would save him for the test matches.
I believe they wanted him to play both warm up matches now to get him ready for the three test series.
Interesting, now let's have a look at what kind of conditions we can expect today.

The dusty pitch will be useful for Panesar, but with Breese being the Windies only spin option, the English might want to bat first.
So, then let's go down to the toss with the captains and Ravi Shastri.

Cricket20052006-09-2022-51-02-00.jpg

With the English choosing heads and getting it, newly appointed captain Andrew Strauss has decided to have a bat. So Andrew, what was the thinking behind the decision?
Well Ravi, we knew they don't have many strong spinners and with Monty playing today, we thought we can bat first, let the pitch develop some cracks and let Monty loose.
Okay, well thanks for that. I'll let you get back to the team. Good luck. Back to you guys up in the studio.

Thanks Ravi. Well Tony, I think it's about time to have a look at the lineups.
Well, the English line up quite strongly, not worrying about experimenting today.

I'd say if the Windies can crack Trescothick and Strauss early, it will put a lot of pressure on Flintoff and KP to peform.
Still, they have a bit of batting prowess in Bell, Cook, Collingwood and Jones, so if they do break the opening partnership there should be enough strength there to hold it together.
Okay then, let's take a look at the Windies line up.

They definetely have some batting strength there and with Bravo, Best and Lawson they can bowl with the best of them.
I agree, so we'll be back in a moment with the broadcast of the match.

Fantastic presentation pal, but you don't need to put titles on your posts. Fine work on the story though, keep it up.

West Indies A vs. England

10 Over Report

Broadcasting now, are Michael Holding and Jonathon Agnew.

What an amazing first ten overs so far Michael.
Yep, with the English losing a single wicket and scoring pretty quickly it has been quite interesting.
With Trescothick and Strauss both looking in top form early as the below replays show, the English were looking hard to beat.

Trescothick clips off the legs.

Trescothick guides it to third man for four.

Cricket20052006-09-2100-10-14-93.jpg

Trescothick pushes it down to fine leg.

It really seemed Trescothick was going to make a great half century or even century, but he hooked one high and right to Bravo who took a sensational catch.

Bravo catches out Trescothick.

And who other than Flintoff could bring a crowd to their feet?

Flintoff enters the ground.

Finally, let's have a look at the statistics.

I am just patient and wait for the bad ball outside off stump. Of course on PS2 you can't put A.I patches etc on.

West Indies A vs. England

20 Over Report

Broadcasting now, are Ravi Shastri and Jonathon Agnew.

Well, so far an interesting innings at least.
Yep, the only problems being Trescothick's dismissal and the slow rate of scoring by Strauss.
I agree, if Strauss can pick up his strike rate, he and Flintoff can score a massive partnership.
So now, let's show the viewers how Flintoff has destroyed the bowlers.

Cricket20052006-09-2101-39-26-00.jpg

Flintoff lifts it over mid on for a boundary.

Flintoff drives for a single.

All seemed well until Freddie edged one.... wide of the keeper.
