Tweaked that for you
Just can't get my head around how poor that Madrid side were, and to think some on this forum were giving them a chance at the start of the season. Sides like them and some Italian ones are shadows of the force they once were in Europe. If it's not an English side that wins it this year, it'll be Barca or maybe Bayern, can't see anyone else doing it.
Just really gotta hope that if we get through tomorrow, we get the scousers. It's like last year, we're the only ones I trust to put them out. Need to beat them on Saturday now to shut them up, they get a win, and the giddyness levels will be city-esque.
More nervous about tomorrow night than I was straight after the first leg, but if we get up and at them, then we should be sorted.
England > Spain. A team in pretty awful form in England beat a team on a 10 game winning run in Spain. LOL.
Shocking defending by Real really.
Like I said two weeks ago concerned about the standard in Europe where an average Liverpool side can beat them 5-0 on aggregate.
Which is why the 6+5 rule might actually not be a bad idea after all. Both for European club football and for the future of the English youngstars. Its a shame that legendary teams like Ajax and PSV can never hold on to their stars.
It can be quite entertaining but that's only because of the poor standard of football there at the moment. Madrid were awful last night, and in the 1st leg, they haven't been past the second round in 5 years. And for a few of those years, they even won La Liga. For all the success of the national side, the standard of football is very poor and it shows as they are exposed in Europe. There is no direct comparision. Its depends on what you like, and for me La Liga produces far more exciting games (Real Madrid or not) than Premier League.
Platini seems to target this at the English clubs all the time. How about he looks at Inter, who only had one Italian in their team at the San Siro a couple of weeks back. Or Real Madrid who had three Spaniards in their team last night. Easy to point fingers, but it might be better looking closer to home. As for Ajax not holding onto their stars, where did Huntelaar and Sneijder come from?Which is why the 6+5 rule might actually not be a bad idea after all. Looking forward to tonight, even more nervous now, sure to be a good atmosphere though, so should be good. Just need that early goal!
