Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Personally I don't like the England football team but I can't help supporting them at big tournaments.
Same for me. Supporting England at tournies is a bit like watching a car crash, you don't really want to, but you just can't help it. :p

it's better than watching scotland which is like being in a car crash, i.e. you're dead and there is nothing.

puddleduck is on my shank list.

And yet again Man U's woefully uncreative midfield fails to unlock the opposition, and they're shakey back four leaks goals.

Anyone else think it's really quite interesting that the last 16 isn't made up of 4 Spanish, English and Italian Clubs with a German and Frenchy and then some also rans? Just shows how strong football is across Europe at the moment.

Yeah. Easily the most no:of underdogs making it to the Round of 16 ever.

Underdogs - APOEL, Benfica, Napoli, CSKA, Bayer04, Zenit, Basel, Marseille

Powerhouses - Barcelona, Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern, Milan, Arsenal, Inter, Lyon.

Definitely not seen 8 underdogs in the K/O stages before. Not me atleast.

From a neutrals point of view, I think the mix of teams is exciting.

But we are shite, really need to look into ourselves now.

I really like man u, but still I'm lolling. good, I hate this culture of buying success we have now. I remember champions leagues when club bruge were getting to semi finals and they were better.

pleased for napoli more than anyone, seriously interesting side they have.

With United out, its hard to see to any of the other teams beat Madrid or Barca. Way too good for everyone else this season.

Also, Serie A is the best league in the world.

You actually saw Man U beating either of them?!?

I think Bayern have actually got an excellent chance this year. Let's not forget they cruised the group to the point of resting everyone against City... A team they comfortably beat at home, themselves a team that destroyed Utd away!

Poor United.

Expected Chelsea to beat Valencia, which they did, but United's loss against Basel is shocking.
