I'm running a few games on normal pitches an the results have been pleasing so far. I've gone with the 6 bowlers to avoid the sim from being stupid and picking a guy with a bowling average of 99 to bowl the last over. Our top order batting is strong enough anyways, and we can afford to go with the extra bowling options.

Pietersen was dropped and I brought Bond back in. It's the only way really that I could accommodate the 6 bowlers.

Extremely happy by the performance in that game, and I think we've finally found something for Bond here. I'm happy by the way the sim shuffled around the bowlers as well, so I think this combination will click for us.
Even when we lost the wickets, the all rounders shone at the death to give us some vital runs and take us to a huge score.

Good stuff, i'll keep tweaking around with the lineups to help us get that spot again.

k_picky has been performing well among the bowlers, even though he hasn't been active. He keeps the run rate down and picks up one or two wickets, if his past performances are good measures to go by.

KP has been performing much better than Sachin recently. I'm not sure if his weak performances are going to factor into how he bats in the next match, but I think KP might be a better option for that reason.

k_picky hasn't been active, and he's competing for a spot with Pavan in the XI. I think it'll be hard on Pavan (who's shown alot of interest) to be snubbed by someone who hasn't even made a post in this thread i think.

KP, maybe. I think i'll have a rotation policy with the batsman to see how they do. Two practice games with Sachin and two with Kevin, then we'll decide.

It looks like cricsim does not supports bowlers.In all our matches bowers are not getting much support.Normal pitch looks good to me.Let Highlander and Karachi Xpress open the innings.They are both looking good.

I've played around 20-25 matches with a line up of 6 batsmen (including Sachin and KP) and 5 specialist bowlers. Chennai won around 60-65% of the time and in most of those matches, those 5 bowlers bowled all the overs in the match, but in the matches that were lost, one of the specialist batsman was randomly chosen to bowl and he usually yielded around 10-15 runs from his one over. Dhoom and Pavan Bharadwaj were the pick of the bowlers, in terms of economy rates.

These are the moments when this sim can be extremely frustrating. Why would you give two overs to a part-timer, when you have two specialist bowlers with overs remaining and with reasonable economy rates?

Even after simming about 40 matches, Shane Bond doesn't have an economy rate below 7. He's right near the other fast bowlers. But, I guess his only value is that he is not prone to giving up way too many runs like we had happen with sid in the last match.

I actually don't mind it giving the couple overs to the batting allrounder. I'd rather have him in the team and have the 6th bowler then going with 5 and it giving it to one of the pure batters for the last, probably most crucial, over.

About Bond, i'm not really looking for wickets anymore. This format has been heavily favoring the batsman, so I guess going at about 7 consistently is great in itself. Also with Bond we have the ability to go with 6 bowlers, and our batting order is strong enough to compensate for it.

If we're going with five specialist bowlers, I would rather go with adyhorn as the all rounder. There's not much difference batting-wise, partly because batsmen are so favoured in this game and partly because not much will be expected from the batsman coming in at 6, but there is a significant difference in bowling. The two spinners generally aren't very expensive, so besides them, there are four fast bowlers competing for the three remaining spots. The question then becomes whether Kevin Pietersen will be more valuable on a normal pitch than Shane Bond and I think that against the Dublin Destroyers, that might be the case, since they have a much better bowling attack than most teams with two international all rounders.

I was thinking of going with the four specialist bowlers (Pal, sid/dhoom, bond and pavan) and then go with the two all rounders just for that extra cushion with the bat if we happen to mess up.

i'll sim a few with the lineup posted and we'll see the results, we can always change the lineup before the time if we need to.
