Story Club Life - The Diary of a County Cricketer [C2007]

Yes get in those nets and prepare to sog those "Yorkshire Scum" as you said, out of the park :)

(If you don't you should be dropped ;))

The Sky is Blue and Red

April 25th 2007 - OH.MY.GOD! The derby is live. What am I going to do? I can't have another failure with the bat right in front of the entire digital owning cricket public! Ah, i've got it. I'll injure myself. Yeah that's what i'll do, throw myself down the stairs. No wait that's a rubbish idea, i'll jump in front of a car. NO WAIT! I'll say i'm allergic to Yorkshire. Oh get a grip man! What if you do well?

Yes, my alter ego raises a good point. What if I do well? What if I rack up a hundred in front of the Sky camera or what if I take another ten-fer. One thing is for sure though, I was going to enjoy batting against Hoggard and bowling against Vaughan.

Wait a minute, what if I actually am allergic to Yorkshire though?

Hoggy and Vaughan; England's finest Yorkshiremen since Trueman and Boycott.

:laugh :laugh Excellent description! com'on evo.. Smash Hoggard all over :)

Also, i missed many parts of this story in the middle but i have joined again now!

Thanks Suren, I try my best to make this realistic. I could quite easily put a load of Photoshop effects on my pictures but what kind of diaries have pictures like that? I'm keeping it simple and real and hopefully my story will be entered into storu of the month next month.

Allergic to Defeat

April 26th 2007 - My destiny awaits me. A good performance here and the public will be fully aware of me. Fail and I would be cast into the shadows of exile until the next live game. Having said that though, i'd quite happily watch the top 6 bat all day today as yet again, it's colder than the devil's heart. Chilts won the toss again and we are batting first at Headingley. It's a tricky pitch by the looks of it. To the naked eye it looks as flat as cheap cola, but upon closer inspection there are cracks and tinges of green to be seen and it should suit my kind of bowling perfectly. Add to that it was a grey, overcast sky which would futher assist seam bowling. Nevertheless, we were batting and it was up to our openers to get us off to a good start.

Chilts wins the toss again.I'd quite happily stay in the pavillion all day to be honest. I'm literally quaking over the thought of batting in front of a live television audience.

In my opinion.. dont be too good nor too bad.. be in the middle say like 30-40 runs and two wkts and make the selectors and all the fans to think that wud be more realistic! :) Also try experimenting in different batting orders ( may be no5 atm or when the early wkt goes then might try no3 ) but dont get wasted like Pathan though :D

Its going interesting evo! Gud Luck! :cheers

good luck evo and if you do screw up im sure Bob Willis will be very kind on you when analysing your performance ;)

A Steady Platform

April 26th 2007 - Oh thank God! I'm not out at the end of day 1. We are in a pretty strong position overnight thanks to a brilliant 100 from Stewy along with a captains knock of 76 from Chilts. I felt good with the bat today though. I hit two boundaries in my knock of 19* but I felt a lot more comfortable than I had done in the previous Championship match against Middlesex, and I feel that there are runs to be had for me tomorrow. Batting with Flintoff also enabled me to bat conservativley while he aggressed and went after the bowlers. It really was great batting with Fred; He is so relaxed and he can just caress the ball to the boundary. I clung on to every word of his advice and i'll cherish every minute I spend at the crease with him.

First4.jpg

Vaughan-esque; A fantastic cover drive races to the boundary.

Second4.jpg

That's the trademark; It's what a play best. This particular cut shot flew to the boundary like a tracer bullet.

Scorecard-7.jpg

A solid looking scorecard for the red rose.

Two allrounders at the crease.. Interesting! :) But can expect some quick runs from Flintoff and then declaration around 400 which might give u less chance to bat evo! But anyways gud steady progress so far!
