May 1st 2007: Essex away - Bloody nora! I'm all for experimentation, but putting me at 3 is a bit risky isn't it? Especially when you consider how dodgy my batting has been. Ah well, I wouldn't mind if the wicket wasn't a dustbowl. Which it was...
Chappers remains injured so Tommy gets his chance again. I'm not feeling too comfortable about my position though.
Still, there were runs to be had on this surface for those that were prepared to dig in and I hope that Chilts would win the toss and give us first use of it so we could unleash Murali on it later on.
And that's exactly what Chilts did; Won the toss and put us into into bat. Get in there you beauty.
Hopefully Loye and McCullum can bat throughout the innings...
Essex are a very good one-day outift but given the form of Murali, we were in with a massive chance of winning this one.
May 1st 2007 - Argh damn! Feck! Mother-Flipper! Why the hell did that have to get me out?! Ugh!
In fairness though, I did play well to get a 30+ score; Hitting a couple of fours and a towering 6 on the way. I really am going to have to learn to how to make the most of a start though.
Ricky'd be proud; A thumping pull shot.
Over his head; A lovely lofted straight drive.
Beat that Kevin; Pietersen couldn't hit further than that.
It was all going swimmingly until I played an expansive drive to an Irani dibbler-dabbler and I edged behind to James Foster. I was gutted; All that work spent getting 'in' and I wasted it again.
Threw it all away; I really should have pushed on from here.
Despite my disapointment, Lancashire still managed to post 300 for the second one-day game in a row so as a team we were consistent, and we had build a platform on which we could bowl at. I'd have to put the disapointment of my batting behind me as I needed to bowl well now.
Another fine display from the batsmen, but it seems we are all suffering from a dose of 'not making the most-itis'
I would say its a disappointment as it was a collective effort and you did contribute. Yeah the dismissal wasnt the best way to get out but it happens in the shorter form of the game.
May 1st 2007 - GET IN THERE SON! Another victory for the Lancs and we absolutley hammered those Essex boys. Murali starred again with 5 wickets but he was very expensive though. I picked up 3 wickets; Most noteably Ronnie Irani who dismissed me earlier. Revenge is a dish best served cold and I served it to him as if it were straight from an Eskimo's arse.
My first wicket was England hopeful Ravi Bopara who played completley down the wrong line and saw his leg-stump obliterated.
Ravi-shed; Another clean bowled victim for me.
Ronnie Irani only had to face two deliveries of mine before I had my revenge. The first one hit him right in the ribs and I gave him a few choice words. Something along the lines of, "That's for being cheeky enough to bowl me out." The second one roared off a length and got big on him and he could only fend off the delivery to Tom Smith who took a fine jumping catch.
Revenge; My happiest wicket of the day.
Next up was Andy Bichel who again, played expansivley at one of my yorkers. He must have failed to pick it up in flight but I didn't care, he was on his way.
Tearaway; The stumps have a happy habit of falling out whenever I bowl.
It was another masisve victory for Lancasyhire who the pundits where now tipping for a memorable quadruple this season. I'm not too sure about that but only time will tell.
Yet another thumping display from Lancashire.
Murali got the most wickets but I was certainly the most economic.
