May 3rd 2007 - Me = Useless against spin. At least that's how I felt when I was completely outfoxed by Mushtaq Ahmed. My innings started off fairly positively as I played some solid defensive strokes and ran well. I also played a thumping backfoot stroke for four off James Kirtley in my very first over.
Flayed away; I smash Kirtley away for an early boundary.
I was feeling really confident of a big innings on what was a tricky pitch, but then Mushy came on. Funnily enough, I played a textbook coverdrive against his very first ball and it was misfielded over the boundary rope for 4 so I thought luck was on my side.
That'll do; I don't mind how they come, as long as they come.
It all came to an end 3 balls later when a superb flipper from Mushy was thrown my way. I didn't pick it at all and my woe against spinners continues.
Bamboozled; Never has a flipper been so comprehensive.
All in all it was a pretty bad batting performance for Lancashire as we could only muster up a paltry 202 a/o. I wasn't too dejected from a team perspective as I thought this pitch was worsening by the minute and personally, I couldn't wait to bowl on it.
There was only really Sutty who stood out for us today.
