Commonwealth Bank Series

It's Australia, balls to Commonwealth!

And ENgland have some class ODI players so i'm not ruling them out just yet.

Commonwealth Bank one-day international team, and it only makes sense for our team to have the same name as the tournament which we win at a canter

Thats awefully cocky. Remember, you may not have Glenn McGrath. The Australian team without McGrath are beatable.

DOn't worry about Brad, he's just an arrogant bigot.

Australia have shown in ODI's in the past that they lack a certain spark without McGrath and that's partly the reason why I think New Zealand will be victorious in this series.

on cricinfo, cricket365 & the commonwealth bank series home page itself there is no mention of a "commonwealth bank cricket team", they all refer to Australia as, strangely enough: "Australia" .. :p

No one in their right mind would call Australia the "Commonwealth Bank International One Day Team". It's just not cricket - well technically it is :D

Lets name all international sides after banks.

The Commonwealth Bank International One Day Team vs The National Bank International One Day Team. Australia vs New Zealand.

Now which do you perfer?

The Natwest Bank vs The Bank of Scotland; England vs Scotland. ;)

It's ridiculous to sell your self out in such a way.

If the Australian Cricket Association feels the need to sell the rights to their countries name and instead be known as a bunch of bankers, who are we as England fans, to argue :p

It's just a few people having a stir, but im sure if the pommies win, they would be claiming to have beaten AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND, not the commonwealth bank & national bank

That's a pretty offensive thing to call someone, particularly over a joking reply to a half hearted troll over the name of the Australian team. Although even if you want serious predictions any logical person would have us as heavy favourites to win.

Every team is beatable, but 9 matches is generally enough to sort out the best team from the others. Again, that wasn't a serious prediction, and I expect we'll drop a match or two on the way but I doubt either team can beat us on a consistent basis, particularly at home.

Australia will probably just be trying to find the perfect fit for the World Cup and I doubt anyone (even Punter) will play all of the games. I'd imigane even Katich would be given ago (give the poms a chance at winning a game) at trying to reclaim his play and Jaques will play some games aswell.

We def will falter without McGrath in the side, Lee isn't at all consistant, Clark doesn't look as nearly as dangerous in OD's and it'll be interesting to see if Bracken can keep his form up. I don't think it matters though, as of late if it isn't something like the Champs Trophy, the Ashes or the World Cup we don't seem to show allot of interest in winning series' like this one or the DLF Cup.

England have announced their side with the shock retirement of Harmison.

England squad: J Anderson, I Bell, P Collingwood, J Dalrymple, A Flintoff, E Joyce, J Lewis, S Mahmood, P Nixon, M Panesar, K Pietersen, L Plunkett, C Read, A Strauss, C Tremlett, M Vaughan.

Interesting choice to select a 36 year old keeper and finally they have removed Gerraint Jones for good. Tremlett is back so that is great to see but I am dissapointed in the exclusion of Broad form the side. Also great to see Monty in the team instead of Blackwell and Giles.

There goes my optimism. Although saying that, if the bowling attack for the first game is Lewis, Anderson and Mahmood, or even Plunkett somewhere in there, with Panesar bringing up the rear then I will be happy. Good to see our batting relies on KP as much as ever.

Incidentally, Nixon is in the squad as Trescothick isn't available, so he can't be the backup wicket-keeper apparently. I feel sorry for Blackwell though. In the year before his shoulder injury he was superb with the ball and would be great at 8.
