Commonwealth Bank Series

Well done Bond and I loved the delivery to dismiss Bracken, lovely slower ball and shows how effective it is against tail enders. NZ did well to restrict Aus to 290 after they were bound to make 320-330 after the 15th over. Vetorri and Patel both bowled very well and the LBW to White by Vetorri was harsh, it pitched on middle, guess the only doubt was height but the delivery was so slow that I expected it to hit the top of middle. Mark Gillespie was the real surprise to me, initially I thought he would only bowl in the 130's but he was consistently up in the 140's and should be a permanent member of the side, and Bond also bowled very quickly as well. If Oram and Mills return in the next two games one of them surely have to replace Franklin, another poor performance by him.

The fielding was also excellent today, and anyone else notice that McMillan has added a few extra pounds :D Maybe he could get that for extra use with the bat.

I think McCullum fancies himself as a bit of a hitter, personally i think he should be down the order incase of a collapse, he, Vettori and Oram (though missing) have done well in the past rebuilding a NZ innings.

Who's going to share the new-ball with Bracken, my bet is Johnson but Hilfenhaus has to at least bowl first change while the ball is still newish. Hopefully Ponting sees it that way. Disappointed theres no Hogg...we have no specialist spinner now only part-timers and a long tail, i just hope it pays off.

Yea McCullum is the Kiwis version of Gilly. Hes been getting flying starts at the top but then gets out, if he goes on a bit then the Kiwis are in with a show. He probably would be better down the order but they don't have an opener that is saying pick me.

Knowing Ponting we're probably see Clark opening the bowling. I would love to see Hilfy bowling first but I know I'm dreaming. Wouldn't mind seeing Johnson opening it and seeing how much swing he gets.

I see McCullum more like a Boucher type player. Whose a wicketkeeper & is a fighter who'll fight out of a tough situation for you. That's just the impression his given me.

Kinda although after seeing that 4 he hit that must change your mind a bit ;) Hes very aggressive and loves to innovate.
Wow Hilfy gets the new ball and swing straight away, great move Punter!

Hilfenhaus looks good with the new ball. Bowls at the 140's and gets a good ammount of outswing. His hair sorta reminds me of McGrath when you look at him from a side on action.
McCullum's shot didn't change much about the Boucher type player I think he is. Boucher plays shots like that in ODI's aswell.
Astle gone, did it carry?

Awesome start by Hilfy with a maiden and almost had McCullum.

Bracken strikes again, what a great ODI bowler he has become. Very tight catch that, I feel it just missed the ground but both umpires agreed so Astle has to go.

Bracken's stats are almost on par with Bond's. Equal strike-rate, Bracken's average is almost under 20 and they've played similar ammount of matches.

Hilfenhaus strikes! On ya bike McCullum.

Wooohooo Hilfy first ODI wicket a ripper of a ball getting the LBW and it was legit going on to hit the stumps.
That pitchmap Nine showed was amazing, Hilfy managed to get the ball in almost an identical spot to the one before and then when he adjusted the next ball was almost in that same spot as the last ball.

This partnership looks to be developing very nicely. We will need to get Fleming so as hes looking like getting another 100 against us.
