Commonwealth Bank Series

Bell won't be making that school boy error again. Replays made him look like a major noob!
Collingwood has been bowling well in this series but his batting has been a let down. Last time he was over here he was very hard to get out and usually rescued the English with a 50.

Loye is a good batsman, but how old is he, does he have many years left ?

He's 34, so he's not one for the future, but can certainly play a part in the world cup, and for another year or two after that whilst someone like Benning hopefully comes of age.

34 so he won't be around too much longer :p This is WC year though so you can expect a few old players popping up aka Nixon!

Chris Harris is still going strong and he's 74!

Except that was the second time he's done it this tour :p

Well this one will stay in my mind can't remember the other one. He was like a chicken blinded by the headlights of a car not knowing where to go. Nine did a good comparison with one of Clarke's run with Hussey where he just went off after seeing his partner unlike Bell who went back, forth and back.

It was at Adelaide I believe and preceeded our drastic collapse. Was with Collingwood as well, I'm wondering if maybe Collingwood's calling is perhaps not up to scratch as well as Bell not committing to the run instead of ball watching.

He hit 71 off 82 in yesturdays match. Got no wickets though and was pretty expensive, probably because of his 9th over which seemed to have gone for 15 odd runs.

I still rekon we should have had him over there while Oram and Styris were out. With Oram returning, I don't know if he would fit in anymore.

Good old Harry. He refuses to give up on the World Cup. He wants to play his 5th in a row.

Oh now I remember, Bell was looking good then as well. Maybe this time Bell and Collingwood will get their calling right.

After seeing how slim the NZ batting lineup is definitely could have used him over here. Hes usually quite good in a collapse which NZ have been doing in their first 2 matches.

How do you think Collingood will fare on the Windies pitches. Also i'm sure we can cope with him just being classeed as a specialist fielder seeing as Australias isn't too bad ;)

Yep the difference was that time Collingwood went, as he should have done being his call, and Bell was then left to make up the ground to the bowlers end having not gone, and was run out with Warne taking the bails off.

This time Collingwood didn't just go as had he done he would have made it home, and with White throwing the ball to the keepers end, Bell would have been able to make it home to the bowlers end.

He should do pretty well, as their pitches are mostly fairly low these days, they should suit him down to the ground.

Pretty well providing the bounce is minimal.

Lol our specialist fielder is good in ODIs ;) He'll go fine and being a handy medium pacer means he can make up with the ball if he doesn't go well with the bat.

Collingwoods fielding abilities is yet another example of the English press being desperate to build up anyone English and hail them the best in the world.

Yes he is a very good fielder, but every team in the world has someone as good as him (Pakistan excluded) and there are a fair few people better than him in the field, Symonds, Clarke, De Villiers to name just three. Collingwood isn't even that much better than Bell in the field.

One thing I would like to know is why they haven't worked on Bells bowling at all? When he first made it into the England team he was a more than useful seam-up bowler for Warwickshire, yet England seem to have made no effort to develop that string in his bow. Much the same happened with KP and his off-spin, with it only being recently that he seems to have started working on it again.

The reason why Collingwood is called a world class fielder is because he takes the cracking catches. When you look at his stump hitting ability you;ll see that it's fairly poor. Favouritism aside, I have to say that Anderson is one of our better fielders too which is odd for a fast bowler.

Ditto. He took a few wickets against Sri Lanka in the summer ODI's under Strauss's captaincy.
