Just had one of my best play sessions.
Yesterday I dismissed the AI for 203 on a grassy/dry pitch in rain affected conditions, and faced one over before the close.
So this evening I resumed at start of 2nd day, which is delayed due to rain. I lose 2 early wickets and then build a nice partnership... AI goes around the wicket with a short leg, banging them in and what do to know I actually glove one to short leg!
Then I have a mini-collapse losing another wicket next ball and one in the next over - 3 wickets without a run.
Another partnership gets me back on track. No collapses, I get my first century in cricket 19 (thank you Darren Berry) and get to 250.
What’s brilliant is I saw the effect of the outfield drying out - very few 4s at the start of Berry’s innings, plenty later.
AI has about 12 overs before the close, take 1 wicket, drop 2, and a few edges short or in the gap.
3rd morning they are batting nicely. I get one wicket to a nice caught behind, but Shipperd paces 50, then 60 and looking solid... I take a leaf out of the AIs book, so change the field a bit and go around the wicket, sure enough he fends it and it’s smartly taken at slip.
About 1hr into day 3, rain and cloud still around but not forced us off. AI 60-odd ahead 3 down, game very nicely poised!
A fantastic, tough, realistic and very fun session!
