Cricket 19 General Discussion

If they could only sort out these issues I probably wouldn't bother playing another game...

1) AI field placings (i.e one fielder on the leg side then bowling ball after ball on leg stump)
2) following on from number 1, remove the feature that makes fielders have a shy at the stumps if you even look like you might run. It's easy to get runs by knocking it to point or gully then pretending to take a single as they throw it at the stumps, miss them and you get 4 for overthrows as there's nobody on the leg side backing up.
3) tone down how overpowered the grounded aggressive shot is.
4) bring in a wider variety of dismissals when bowling - stumped, catches around the field not just at slip or short leg.

I'm no programmer but these seem like easy fixes to me. And if they were sorted the game would be twice as good IMO
Yeah the second point is frustrating most

I am super close to taking the dive and upgrading from Ashes Cricket to Cricket 19, and I have a couple of questions that might tip me over if anybody can answer.

Has the problem been fixed where bowlers were always in the slips? It always really bugs me in Ashes Cricket where the batsman edges to 2nd slip and the scorecard reads stuff like “B Bumrah C Shami” it’s so unrealistic and I always had to look passed it. Batsmen need to make up the majority of slips, and if that has been fixed it’s a massive plus for me. I even tried making all of the bowlers fielding and catching ratings 0 and all the batsmen’s really high and that still didn’t fix it, so if Cricket 19 has this solved I’d be super happy.

In tour designer are you able to decide start times? It always bugged me that when you started a tour that you designed 1, sometimes 2 tests is a day/night, it made me stop using the mode.

And stats in Competition mode, have they been fixed where games/innings aren’t skewed for player teams and other issues?

The most important question of those is the first. Any info would be appreciated.

1) From my experience it’s definitely batsmen that are fielding in the slips.

2) I can’t answer re: tour start times.

3) Originally there was a double stats bug in competitions (Certainly in Tests) but that does seem to have been rectified.

for tours, you can change the start time in the match settings part of the match set up.

however, you can only choose between the start times set up for match type you’re playing.

You can switch fielders positions manually by name now...

A quick Q

Due to continuously trying and tweaking different slider settings, it becomes difficult to find the sweet spot, especially Min and Max Pace bowling speed in the physics...

When the values are kept higher, sometimes the pace feels too fast and causes unnecessary edges even for perfect shot choices (batting sliders unchanged) , but then after playing at higher speed values, when switching back to lower or default values, suddenly it all feels too slow and the timing goes for a complete toss and kills the fun...

I play with timing window 80 or 90 ever since the Ashes cricket 17 days when the timing window was introduced by a patch and even at that time many had to adopt to the the new timing (late or early as one preferred) so since then I have continued with the same in Cricket 19 too...but as soon as i tweak and experiment with pace sliders, it all goes for a toss...

For a few days, I also tried to play with default pace speed of 50 and timing window of 100 (means time as late as possible) but had a poor batting experience and killed the fun...

Many of you too experiment with sliders, so would like to know how do you manage the pace speed adjustments and still continue to have a good experience overall and what is your sweet spot with regards to min and max pace speed and timing windows...which neither feels too fast nor too slow...

Thanx

I was trying to download English county teams from @wasteyouryouth uploads but I can't seem to be able to download them. It always gives me "Unable to download custom bat. Custom bat database is full." error. And then the team also doesn't get downloaded as a result.

Any idea what the reason could be? I'm trying to download the teams separately as custom, instead of replacing the existing ones.

obviously "your custom bat database is full" go to academy bats and delete some....

Hi Guys

First post here!

Is there anyway of the getting the AI to use a certain set of fields like customs.

It takes a bit of the fun away when you can step close to the wide line and hit everything on the leg side and the AI keeps the same 7-2 off side field in a test match.

Or if any of you guys have found a work around this?

Thanks guys!

There is now a dedicated thread on this and other related issues in the academy section.

Welcome. Without wanting to be an ass the best way is to confine the amount of width you will allow your batsmen to take guard on. A bit artificial. In the ideal world the AI should be picking off that tactic but they are not. Better would be when we can choose three guards at the start of a ball or over or whatever and not be able to stand three feet outside off or leg....in RL the bowler will then just bowl middle stump yorkers at you and it's time for some tea. Perhaps others will have other solutions....

Actually in first class career mode, I found it quite challenging that a spinner kept bowling wide of off-stump, and I am a left handed batting all-rounder in my career. I'd always edge, to prevent that I'd go really away from the stumps on the off, to try to hit it leg side. To make it realistic (I even hate the fact that so many times the batter's foot just goes through the stump when leaving a ball, and that would be hit wicket in real life), I am batting on pro cam, kind of makes it more realistic for me.

Yeah I generally bat pro mode too and this gives more of a sense of intuitively covering your stumps up more than when you can see yourself and the stumps as it were.
At the same time even if you don’t stand extremely wide of off or leg, the AI still don’t take adequate action against you playing the ball repeatedly in a certain gap especially leg side: the remedy for this is to make other aspects harder: ball speed, footwork influence and such like so that each ball will be harder to get away regardless of where you stand or what AI is doing. A roundabout way of coming to AI’s rescue but it does mean you have more of a challenge.

I haven't made any custom fields yet, i keep forgetting too!

I've found in previous games if you made custom fields the AI would certainly use them. You'll probably need to set the tags for each field
