From what I can see from the nets challenge is Arcade looks like just means the controls, its a button input focused rather than the use of the stick to aim where to go.Okay… my two penny worth!
I’ve played all BA Cricket Games (Plenty of bug reports submitted-in the hope of helping) but looking back, struggle to distinguish which was which. I mean, I just switched to the new game every time with the new controls. I think maybe DBC 17 was where I had some real thrilling Tests/ODIs. Maybe 17 that I had a substantial career too, or Ashes. Maybe Cricket 19 got a little samey in part.
I’d like what we’ve had before but with more polish. I mean, for me, that people can create a game that even resembles/feels like cricket is amazing. How on Earth anybody compares the players in BA games to the cartoon characters in Ashes 09, I’ve no idea! But multiple people do so… maybe they’re right! The only other game that I play is FIFA (Brief flirtation with other sports games) so maybe your Call of Duty etc, people all look lifelike, like proper lifelike. I don’t know!
The word Arcade scares me (As does rumours of these nets crashing!). I mean, if there was a genuine arcade mode, smack 30 runs in 60 seconds or something yeah. But like most people I think, I want a Test on Cricket 22 to be like a bloody Test!
I haven’t had much luck in recent careers with technical issues, crashes, struggling to go any further so can’t get too excited by Career. I hope that I can do one to its finish but prefer playing as a whole team outside of career.
I absolutely love the thrill of taking a wicket on Cricket 19, the edges to keeper/slips, LBW and bowleds. I do hope that these new controls don’t negatively effect that.
I’d like more longer hairstyles to choose from!
Polish, things like not drinking through the helmet, commentator saying “four” when the fielder stopped it, wicketkeepers sliding three foot (I mean on their feet!) in an instant to take a catch, a bit more modern player/stat presentation when they walk out to bat (Maybe leave as is in Tests but show a pic in T20s), no stupid catch the ball just inside the boundary then throw it over their head, players not being knackered because they reached double figures and bowled two overs so now can’t field to save their life, things not going fuzzy when the floodlights come on!
I’ve had a lot of fun on these games, plenty of frustration too (Namely when my daughters are in the same room!). Boy do I have to concentrate when I’m batting but some innings are alarmingly rewarding. I got run out for 49 off about 117 balls in a Test recently and it just felt so real, like an actual Test innings!
Hopefully the game exceeds expectations and we get many more. I saw a dodgy looking shot on some footage but was then really impressed by how the batsman moved and struck the ball.
Sorry, I’ve written more than enough. A bit of a ramble!
Nets crashed on me if I tried bowling free play as a spinner and it won't let me connect online which was expected as they said the nets challenge not available until 12th OCT anyway.
I wouldn't be concerned if you enjoyed the last game this one will be even better, sharper graphics on release, updated teams and kits, game modes and the the academy is brilliant. Just like Madden or Fifa not everything will be perfect. Enjoy it for what it is!
