Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

Pre ordered from Eb
got the code for the nets already , not sure if it’s fully up and running but I could use it. Batting controls were the same in nets but bowling very different.

I couldn’t land any on the pitch with the new controls. There is the After touch stick but also selecting length and type of delivery.

I ended up changing controls to the cricket19 system where you flick the stick up for delivery but even with that I had trouble landing in good areas. Will take awhile to get hang of.

All I could do was the net challenge as Tim Paine facing Cummins or I could do batting or bowling free play, choose to face a bowler or bowling machine. I struggled a bit because I normally played 19 on broadcast camera view so trying to bat from behind the batsman view was difficult for me.

Some screenshots.

Can you post videos or livestream.. Really eager to check out the animations and the interesting looking new bowling controls..

I can't believe how they can charge anything more than 10 dollars for this junk. Its the same game as what they have produced since 2014 with some good features removed and not so useful features added. The graphics are what you would have got on a B-grade PS2 game from 2005 (other than higher resolution of course). People who are not hesitating to buy this must be living in fantasy land.

Problem with these posts are that you have absolutely no idea what your saying is true or not.

It may well be true..

But you have no idea

Well looking at the graphics, the licenses, the cartoonish animations, and what the last two iterations offered in terms of incremental gameplay value, it is not out of reach to make a statement like that

It is not too much to ask for tangible improvements especially when the price being charged is equivalent to or more than AAA games. Working on the same engine for the last 8 years should put them in a position to deliver exactly that. I saw no real improvement between DBC 14 to DBC 17 nor any meaningful improvement in Ashes Cricket and Cricket 19 to justify that price tag. Supporting for the first two iterations is all well and good but if the trend continues, there is no harm in demanding for something better.

Never live-streamed before.

Here are a couple of pics and videos. Keep in mind I had one hand holding phone the other trying to bowl.

Edit- It won’t let me upload the videos for some reason

Okay… my two penny worth!

I’ve played all BA Cricket Games (Plenty of bug reports submitted-in the hope of helping) but looking back, struggle to distinguish which was which. I mean, I just switched to the new game every time with the new controls. I think maybe DBC 17 was where I had some real thrilling Tests/ODIs. Maybe 17 that I had a substantial career too, or Ashes. Maybe Cricket 19 got a little samey in part.

I’d like what we’ve had before but with more polish. I mean, for me, that people can create a game that even resembles/feels like cricket is amazing. How on Earth anybody compares the players in BA games to the cartoon characters in Ashes 09, I’ve no idea! But multiple people do so… maybe they’re right! The only other game that I play is FIFA (Brief flirtation with other sports games) so maybe your Call of Duty etc, people all look lifelike, like proper lifelike. I don’t know!

The word Arcade scares me (As does rumours of these nets crashing!). I mean, if there was a genuine arcade mode, smack 30 runs in 60 seconds or something yeah. But like most people I think, I want a Test on Cricket 22 to be like a bloody Test!

I haven’t had much luck in recent careers with technical issues, crashes, struggling to go any further so can’t get too excited by Career. I hope that I can do one to its finish but prefer playing as a whole team outside of career.

I absolutely love the thrill of taking a wicket on Cricket 19, the edges to keeper/slips, LBW and bowleds. I do hope that these new controls don’t negatively effect that.

I’d like more longer hairstyles to choose from!

Polish, things like not drinking through the helmet, commentator saying “four” when the fielder stopped it, wicketkeepers sliding three foot (I mean on their feet!) in an instant to take a catch, a bit more modern player/stat presentation when they walk out to bat (Maybe leave as is in Tests but show a pic in T20s), no stupid catch the ball just inside the boundary then throw it over their head, players not being knackered because they reached double figures and bowled two overs so now can’t field to save their life, things not going fuzzy when the floodlights come on!

I’ve had a lot of fun on these games, plenty of frustration too (Namely when my daughters are in the same room!). Boy do I have to concentrate when I’m batting but some innings are alarmingly rewarding. I got run out for 49 off about 117 balls in a Test recently and it just felt so real, like an actual Test innings!

Hopefully the game exceeds expectations and we get many more. I saw a dodgy looking shot on some footage but was then really impressed by how the batsman moved and struck the ball.

Sorry, I’ve written more than enough. A bit of a ramble!
