Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Now that we are near 1 week post-release can anyone really explain the Marketing to me. I was of the opinion that maybe the budget for marketing had been shifted to capitalise during the World Cup. Haven’t seen anything in terms of ads or anything anywhere? What is the strategy here?

Mainly curious as I have a career in Marketing and would just like to make sense of it all.

This is the one they show at Marketing Courses: “spot the obvious mistakes” and “how would you alienate your core base with as little effort as possible?”

If they had marketed what they had and showed the world they would have got less sales than they actually have people like myself bought the game thinking it has to be better than C22 surely it’s a new game lol

May be they don't want to sell the game now in it's current condition?

Slightly off topic, seeing the shit show that Cricket 24 has become I've been wanting to go back and play the older BA cricket games.
How would you rank all the BA games from DBC 14 to Cricket 24. Would appreciate the inputs.
1. Ashes 17 (I guess BA peaked here, it had its own issues but most were negligible at that time)
2. Dbc 14 (It was a refreshing experience for someone like me who had spent a lot of hours on EA 07. Getting out bowled and lbw felt great)
3. Cricket 22 (In the final build, apart from the fielding, almost everything else works fine and had some good games in it with the help of some sliders)
4. Cricket 19 ( Felt a bit distant from simulation and had some fielding issues. The crowd noise and the overall presentation was great. But still BA's downfall started here
5. Dbc 17 (Graphics and some shot animations were terrible)
6. Cricket 24 ( I haven't bought it but got the chance to play it for a couple of hours, and it felt like the worst of the lot and I don't have to explain why)

*Strictly personal opinions*

My overriding memory for DBC 14 is that it was very good for test cricket but largely unplayable for ODI and T20.

So why release it?
I think having missed the Ashes deadline (and we now know why) the World Cup was the last chance this year of garnering any leverage from licensing. We dont know up to what length of time the licenses can be used before a release has to happen. I dont know the contract but can imagine its full of conditions of use. The game isnt fit for release and they know it and are just battening down the hatches and waiting for the shitstorm to pass. I guess there are all kinds of reasons we don't know but I have understood that it is sometimes more worthwhile releasing something that is half-finished than not releasing at all.

I think this site and this forum has the role of being critical and voicing opinion despite the rainbow-coloured statements that have been made about the game pre-release.
