Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Despite the obvious issues with the game I'm still having a great Ashes test match , Aussies need 236 to win with day and a bit to go.

Right arm bowlers to left handed batter lines seem to be much better . Also when batting it felt really tricky for 35 overs or so then seemed to stop moving as much and got easier.

If they sort out the pitch and weather then it will an excellent game especially playing tests

Hopefully they will also update the Test Championship as well
If they do that I'd buy it instantly.

It can't be that difficult surely to put some clouds in the sky and program the ball to swing more. Or swing less but spin more if you choose an Asian ground.

If needs be I'm prepared to do what I did in C22 and create sliders to create what I would consider to be authentic playing conditions for different situations but it'd still be nice if there was visible wear in the pitch and variable weather/rain delays causing a changing of tactics.

Fwiw I had sliders for:

High-scoring ODI
Low-scoring ODI
T20
Batting paradise days 1/2/3
Batting paradise days 4/5
Absolute bunsen days 1/2/3
Absolute bunsen days 4/5
Swinging conditions days 1/2/3
Swinging conditions days 4/5
Good pitch days 1/2/3
Good pitch days 4/5
Slow and low pitch days 1/2/3
Slow and low pitch days 1/2/3

Some might wonder why I would choose to play on a batters paradise for example, especially if I'm bowling but I just wanted it to be as realistic as possible and try recreate the variety in pitches you can get, even sometimes on the same tour.

I haven’t touched the sliders yet but a question is if you have physics on hard difficulty does that mean ball swings more etc ? Never understood it properly whether it makes a difference

No spin while batting after the latest patch.. Remember having the the same issue after one of the patches in the previous game

there will be one more patch Before weekend Don't know when and what will they fix/add

New scorecard hud is on the way, Ross said in a reply.

Some good suggestions there.. I think for BA to understand these suggestions a powerpoint will help.. May be an online meet for sometime where guys like you or others have deep knowledge of the game and discuss the same with them..

Cricket is a complicated game and to bring it in the video game it will take lots and lots of efforts.. BA can always take help of the PC community and sure many of us will be happy to take sometime and suggest improvements to them..

Aside from fielder responsiveness, what are the gameplay improvements people would be asking for?

From the player actions perspective, most of what I've wanted seem to be there at the moment: it does feel as though the skill of the player I'm controlling (batting or bowling) does make a difference to my outcomes, and the conditions (weather and pitch) seem to affect things too.

The gameplay improvements for me that need to improve are all AI related. They left-armer's over the wicket line. Leg-spinner's round the wicket line. The field-setting... these are perennial bugbears. I can see why the field-setting might be difficult to fix, I don't understand how the bowler's line issue hasn't been fixed across any iteration.

The biggest non-gameplay one would be more ability to choose the weather. I don't want to choose the season, I want to choose the weather... cloudy, sunny, overcast... etc. It seems to have an affect so I want to try different conditions.

  • AI responsiveness to situations/milestones - ie approaching a 50/100 or needing a few to win, field tight in. 200-1, field spread. These are all specific situational scenarios so coding should be relatively straightforward I'd assume.
  • Ball to boot. Pretty sure @Wealey has said this should be easy to fix.
  • Keepers diving to 2nd slip.
  • Some sort of collision detection with players not walking through each other or the stumps.
  • Application of commentary. It's more than a single Gilly, it's absolutely pinged off the bat mate!
  • Not gameplay but fix the Academy so C22 stuff works properly and fix the licensed teams. It's a shambles that they have fake players in and incorrect equipment on players when that equipment is actually licensed.
Other than the very obvious and what I've said above I've been enjoying myself on Play Now, playing random matches. I agree in that they have made really good subtle improvements to the gameplay but unfortunately they are masked by the glaring bugs. I do think it has the bones of a good game and could be if BA support it properly.

Question. Has there been any changes to the tournament/tour creator?
On Xbox I’ve tried making custom tournaments but the game crashes, I’ve tried doing world cups etc and changing teams and the teams don’t change it reverts back to the same default teams.

Trying to start a new career on PC and the game crashes every single time. Is anyone facing this issue? I have the latest patch(v02.1522) installed.

Every time I try to play a competition that has a custom Pakistan team, the game crashes.

Did you every publish those slider values here?
