Cricket 24 - General Discussion

“The crux of the problem is really just the AI. It just doesn’t behave according to what would happen in a real game of cricket, and everything that it does seems predetermined before your bowler has actually let go of the ball.”

A fair review this from a former BA employer who left when Nacon stepped in - https://www.digitallydownloaded.net...ial-game-of-the-ashes-sony-playstation-5.html
Amazing read!

One line from that review, which is something that I hold against BigAnt now and is a big reason for me to be utterly disappointed with them is - “The lack of ambition in this one is genuinely disappointing”!

It just feels like a cash grab as almost nothing seems new (Albeit few tweaks which could have been done in 3-4 months)

Yes BA retweeted this aswell without obviously reading the article just the initial wording of the tweet praising the game.

It's a brilliant article..

The AI bit is spot on. When you bowl your just waiting for the game to decide to give you a wicket. There's a real disconnect to what you input and the outcome at the other end.

It NEEDS to be waaaay harder to get perfect and ideal and the reward for doing that should be a Jaffa that produces some magic at the opposite end.

Bowling is NOTHING about skill. Your literally just sat tapping buttons almost simulating the game yourself in a very slow fashion.

What's the point in bowling or trying to bowl ideal ideal then u get your full length delivery upper cutted for 6.. it makes the user input irrelevant

Sadly that's not how it works like he said. It's irrelevant for the most part what you bowl. But this hasn't been looked at properly for about 3 titles now.

The fact fielding is "still a problem" after two games with it being a "selling point" is ridiculous. The fielding is still below average at very best.

It feels like we may have hit a roadblock in the progression of what we are going to get sadly.

This certainly doesn't warrant a 4.5/5 rating, especially when considering the state of fielding, which is in complete disarray. It's astonishing that this title has introduced more fielding bugs than ever before. If the game wasn't ready, it should never have been released. We endured a 6-month delay with hopes of a promising cricket game.

Despite their claims of rewriting fielding mechanics and extensive coding work, it's clear that BA isn't naive. The ethical choice would have been to address the fundamental issues in C22, but they opted to sell a new product laden with falsehoods, labeling it as an overhaul and license heavy.

If these improvements are supposed to come later, I empathize with those who paid for this. I'm content to abstain from this one and watch a subpar product fail.

Apologies for the direct tone, but the one-sided conversations from BA are making things worse.

I was actually thinking about bowling, while I love the mechanics (of pace bowling, twirling the stick to get spin can get in the bin) there could be more thought to it.

Watch county cricket and there's guys bowling mid 70mph consistently. I assume a big part of that is they are looking for accuracy, the assistance from pitches and Dukes ball. A lot of these you will see play The Hundred or international cricket and their speeds are often increased. Could be speed guns - but I noted that Josh Tongue's speeds were similar anyway. But I assume, they are getting less from the white Kookaburra ball and looking to get extra pace - also they aren't bowling 20 overs in a day, maybe two two over spells in a T20.

So I think you could introduce a 'Precise Ball', alongside the 'Effort Ball' and a 'Stock Ball'. Precise Ball might drop the speed down by a little but makes timing easier. Effort Ball should allow greater speed but require better timing to achieve swing. Stock Ball there should be room for missing your line and length.

I'd say a big difference between elite bowler and very good domestic bowlers is their ability to bowl a good 'Stock Ball' - good pace and ability to move it. There's lots of bowlers bowling 75mph and below that clean up in county cricket and while they might do well in a test match in England (or West Indies, see Kyle Mayers) a guy running in bowling that quick in Rawalpindi is going to get nothing.

Likewise, elite batters are more likely to be those who have can handle higher pace but perhaps not always Mark Wood pace.

Of course none of the would particularly resolve my biggest problem with bowling which is the not knowing if what you are doing is good or bad. Is a batter playing and missing because I'm bowling a bad ball? Are they not scoring because I'm bowling well or because I've blocked all the scoring options for the AI with the field?

I think a key part should be in assessing the pitch, conditions and opposition in order to formulate a plan. Is the pitch going to offer assistance? Will the conditions allow for the ball to swing? What sort of length is the optimum length to bowl on a particular pitch? And the big one what should I do against the batter facing me.

There should be rewards/encouragement for bowling the correct line and length and this shouldn't be super simple.

Just woke up so could well be rambling.

Just played online T20 1st inng but its too smoth loved it .. its beter thn c22 online .. the problem is only with fielding ! If they fix fielding somehow it wil be the best online game .. will post score card once i complet the whole game !!

Big Ant prime target should be fixing all fielding bugs and need to modify batsman shots, so it won't adapt automatically to spinning, swinging balls and also need to fix batsman auto sliding when Playing shots...

So you’re telling me that all they got to do is fix the fielding, batting and from other comments over here… the bowling, career mode, tournament mode, presentation, audio… and then we’ll get a good game.

There is so much knowledge, love and passion in this community for cricket games, I wish and hope Bigants throw away their egos and aragonce, include a few members of this community in refining their game.

About the licenses.. if you get the licenses of players, teams, leagues, and stadiums then get the entire thing and just not one or two things.. for ex: Delhi stadium looks dead..the hoarding is covered with nothing but purple color and only color and nothing else..

What BA should consider is while they obtain license they should open few things to edit to make the game look realistic..

For licensed stadiums: Allow users to change adboards, stumps, pitch ad and rope ad.. that's all and nothing else.

For licensed players: Change of equipment only.. I hate to see Kane playing without an arm guard or not using modern batting pads.

For licensed teans: Change of equipment at least if not the kit.

It will keep the gamers engaged and it will be much enjoyable.
