Saw this today morning. Absolutely Privileged to have the Cricket in the Olympics. It's an Olympic Sport! Something that finally the sport has longed for, and something that makes it complete above the completeness of the game. Too long but good enough to wait for it. The spread of Cricket has to really kick on from now, and the signs have developed from the new nations, and i think Cricket has to have a really good support by 2020. It should be madness, quick package entertainment, versatility, young guns, every thing, in every aspect of the game should kick the world up. It really should. I'm glad for cricket, Its nothing less than a festival, and i'll preserve my fireworks for till 2020! :D

Congratulations. Hope new cricket games developers will get the sport into the limelight as any another sport. And lots of stuff to tell! Planet Cricket is a proud supporter of the "Olympic" sport too! :D

T20 is the ideal format for representing the game in the Olympics. Glad to see the game of cricket being a potential Olympic sport :thumbs

It was no spectacle at the 98 Comm Games, but maybe 20/20 will be good at the Olympics.

Can't really compare the CommonWealth games with the Olympics though. About a billion people watch the Olympics, most people (esp who are not from the Commonwealth) have never even heard of the CW games.

Hmarka added 2 Minutes and 39 Seconds later...

Olympians are a test of athletes, not teams.

Uhhhhhhhhhh NO

Olympic team sports :

Baseball
Softball (until 2008)
Ice Hockey
Basketball
Field Hockey
Soccer
Tennis
Volleyball
Beach Volleyball

and thats just off the top of my head

Suppose if they were to implement cricket into the Olympics, it would most likely be T20 Cricket. Can't really imagine full OD matches being played. It would be a good opportunity for maybe A Teams from International countries to flourish and for cricket to announce itself to the world.

EDIT: Merged threads.

Why not just regular teams?

'Make a bid' for Olympics, what does this mean? I don't think anything is a certainty yet.

I will be representing Team GB in the Olympics after all.

An excellent move into World's stream. This is the best way to spread cricket in even those countries where there is no cricket.
I support this move.

I also support this move.
as s2y said it is the best way to expand cricket's popularity.

It'll be a joy to watch.:thumbs

I don`t think that can happen. Are`nt the Olympics only meant for amateur sportsmen or something? I think if it is to be played in the Olympics, it`ll be similar to what we have with football, with U-23 footballers representing their nations.
Pleased to see someone else picked it up. The Olympics is essentially for amateur sports people.

This would be great though. If I was good enough, I'd play for some random country like Switzerland, just to get to an opening ceremony.

Baseball
Softball (until 2008)
Ice Hockey
Basketball
Field Hockey
Soccer
Tennis
Volleyball
Beach Volleyball

Might just be me but the only good ones there are Basketball and Volleyball. Forgot Water polo.

In soccer at the Olympics the "big team" never send their best players. It always some African team that ends up wining it.

Switzerland doesn't allow homos to play on their teams. You'd have to settle for France

Tennis?!

Depends on the sport I guess, USA sent a Dream Team twice to the basketball events.
