Need 6 bowling options...

If Cairns, Astle & Fleming display the kind of form they did in the real life series, we should win this quite easily. I do hope Astle is rated favorably with the ball, because he was quite regular bowler back then and would bowl on average 6-8 economical overs per innings.

Roger Twose was a great bowler as well.. (He was ranked 28th on 1 Jan 2000 in ODI rankings) Are you sure you don't want him to bowl..

Lol, I am pretty sure I don't want him to bowl. He was an effective batting all-rounder in county cricket judging by his stats. But after moving to New Zealand and playing international cricket, became mostly a specialist middle-order batsman. It is shown by the fact that he bowled only 11 times in 87 ODI matches and none after 1996. He hardly ever bowled in Tests either, except for occasions where all the other bowlers were tired after a long day on the field.

To sum it up, he picked just 4 wickets from 87 ODIs at an average of nearly 59, and 3 from 16 Tests at a somewhat more respectable 43. Those are hardly the stats you would expect from a supposedly "great bowler". Any rankings that put him as high as 28th in the year 2000 must be quite absurd and not really worth following in my opinion.

The man who tormented West Indies in the Test series, Chris Cairns, was again at his best as he took 4 wickets, including the West Indies' opening batsmen. On a flat pitch, West Indies started terribly loosing both openers for just 41. Then Shiv Chanderpaul (76) stabled the innings with consecutive partnerships with Brian Lara and Nemiah Perry. Jimmy Adams guided the innings towards the end scoring 48*. New Zealand had to chase 272.

Nathan Astle guided the innings with a great 109 getting support from Chris Cairns and captain Stephen Fleming. The West Indies did cause some initial scares sending back three New Zealand batsmen for just 106. But Nathan Astle stood firm and won the game for New Zealand... Chris Cairns was awarded Man of the Match for his all round performance.
