The two consistent batsmen for the West Indies, Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, came out all guns blazing. After the openers were dismissed for 8 runs on the board, they both came together and stitched a 190 run partnership with Lara making 104 off 90 deliveries. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was unlucky to get out on 90. However, the Kiwi bowlers stopped the run flow at the end of the innings restricting West Indies to 290.

The Kiwi opening pair started in a cautious manner, stitching out a partnership of 47 from 50 balls. Craig Spearman, especially, played really well with a positive attitude, scoring a fifty from 62 balls. But 3 quick wickets by Mervyn Dillon and Curtly Ambrose put NZ on the back-foot. Then, Craig McMilan and Roger Twose got together and put together a partnership of 122. Craig McMillan looked like he would play the part played by Lara in the WI innings, but some magical fielding from Reon King, caught him short off his crease for 62. After that wicket, Courtney Walsh and Reon King cut loose and cleaned the rest of the lineup for just 33 runs, with Walsh claiming 4 wickets. West Indies won by a comprehensive 52 runs.

Looks like West Indies finally turned up. I suppose NZ got a bit overconfident after winning the first couple of matches in the series. We'll make one change i.e Scott Styris in for Shayne O'Connor. Counting on him to replicate the kind of form he did in the real life series with the ball.

Must say really happy with the way we performed against a formidable lot out here, however there is only one area that worries me and that is the opening pair, like in real life the opening pair back then against the Kiwis did not really get going very frequently, but got lucky this time around as our middle order saved our bacon there, overall a very good and a convincing win.

Australia started their innings in the SCG in a solid manner. Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden made the Indian bowling lineup work really hard as they had a partnership of 83 from 102 balls. After Hayden's wicket, Gilchrist continued in his good touch and scored a brilliant century. For India, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble and surprisingly, Saurav Ganguly were the main bowlers.

I wouldn't say disappointing . Good Performance from the boys against a quality side.A little improvement on the batting front is all we need.
