Cricksim Rating Guide

This is for those struggling with the rating. I sent them to Fenil sometime back. Thought I'd post it here. Came across it while clearing PM's.

* Legendary batsmen like Sachin, de Villiers Amla, Kallis, Punter all should be rated in the 40-42 range.

* Magnificent and consistent batsmen like Trott, M Hussey, Kohli, Watson, Sanga, all should be rated in the 38-40 range.

* Players like Gayle, Dhoni, Sehwag, Dilshan, Misbah,Jayawardene should be rated in 36-38 range.

* Not so established, but good players or good players running in a dry patch stretched to for two or more years like Cook, U Akmal, Bell, Collingwood, D Hussey, White, Ferguson all should be rated in 33/34-36 range.

* Players specialized in one formal format but quite average in ODI's to be rated in 32-34 range, depending on the stats in all three formats (Eg: North, Laxman, Afridi, Dravid, Albie, Pollard etc.)

* Pure AR's with a fair batting average & a decent bowling average should be rated somewhat 31-32ish with the bat & somewhat 34-35ish with the ball depending on the averages.

* Domestic players like Khawaja, Hales, Finch, M Marsh, Badrinath all should be rated in the 31-34 range considering their List A averages and the caliber of the circuit they play in.

* Batsmen who are quite average, just rate the anything above 28 depending on their skill.

* For the bowlers, rate the best lot of them 26-28. This category includes bowlers like Swann, Vettori, Morne, Steyn and Malinga.

* The bowlers who bowl really well and consistent and have started their career with a blitz, rate them 28-31. Some of them are Zaheer, Mitchell, Lee, Roach.

* New bowlers who have taken the game by stor like Philander, Narine should be rated somewhat 28-30. If they lost form, then you should dock their ratings by a few points.

* Bowlers who aint that established but bowl well, rate them 31-33. Parnell, Starc, Pattinson McKay etc.

* Rate the specialist bowlers always below 35.

*Bowlers like Steve Smith, Afridi, Bravo, Pollard, Yuvi all to be rated around 34-36 according to their skills.

* Rate the part-timers anything above 37.

* Also it's easier to draft out a list prior to rating the players. It helps in easy comparison (suggested by Callum). Also, if you're doing a nation based league, dock the local players a point up, because they'll be familiar with the conditions.

* For the players who are retired. You should cut down one or two points depending on their skill & how long they've kept away from the game (Obviously doesn't apply for a Retired League or Legends League)

* Always test your ratings & then using the results of the trial matches, tinker them accordingly until you get satisfactorily results.

* This is just a guide. Don't blindly follow it. Different leagues need different rating criterion, so you need to do minor edits at times.

Any more help needed just PM me. Good luck.

Great idea, So if we need help we have to post it here and if we have suggestions then we have to post it in the other thread. Am I right?
I guess, Yes.

If you need an advice on presentation of the league, the fixtures, the player skills, etc., you should post here.

And if you have any suggestions for the Cricket Leagues forum, you'll post there.

i dont see the point of two threads for pretty much the same thing, we could just merge the feedback/suggestion thread into this.

They sound like the same thing to me but I think this thread is for discussing/assisting members' individual leagues (presentation, player ratings, etc.), whilst the other is for the admins use, and comments on the overall running of the leagues section (number of leagues per member, LOTM, etc.).

Yup. I too think that we should not have two different threads of similar manner. The 'Cricket Leagues - Suggestions' thread should have both discussions and well as suggestions, I think.

No T20 in Cricksim

good, you shouldn't keep asking always now and then for the highest rating, lowest rating, blah blah blah stuff. If you're having a little problem, consult a guy by PM or even by asking, but it's no need to put up the rating question again and again, when you've already been answered.

Ever saw anyone other asking for rating tips again and again?

Nobody should mind it as he has the right to ask his doubts and get them cleared. But yes, I would have personally tried out some stuff before asking here rather than asking the doubts straight away.

Use the support and advice thread for those questions, they shouldn't be asked in this thread.

But, I wanna know the differences between ratings of different formats.

Anyways, posting this in other thread.

I need to know the differences between the players for One Day/Test/T20 Format which will give out reasonable and relistic scores in that respective formats. Can anyone please fill the format. Don't need to know exact ratings, ranges will do.

You've already got an answer in the other thread. Why post it again? TBH, I get a little annoyed at people constantly asking for ratings. When I did CL4, I did all the rating from scratch, did heaps of testing and tweaking and as a result got really good results. If you copy someone else's ratings, what is the point?

This.

It's not a bad thing, to ask for advice once or twice, even I consulted biggy for rating tips once, but that was enough for me. Good, you've been constantly asking for rating tips on the help thread, can't you get them right even after so much advice, or you want to put any testing effort in your league? For me, it's rather dishonest if I develop a super-brilliant league format/plan but copy the ratings almost as others tell me.
