Jaywardene and Sangakara is my guess off the top of my head, during that innings where they set the record.

You are all wrong ;)

Although Jayawardene is one of the players. Remember the question who was there at the start of play in consecutive innings. Sanga and Jayawardene were still in the same innings ;)

Anyway in the 1st test England v Sri Lanka at Lords, Jaywardene and Maharoof were at the crease at the start of play with Sri Lanka somewhere around 6/8 wickets down. Then the next day they were 3 or 4 down with Maharoof in as a nightwatchmen and that man Jayawardene still going strong. I remember it well, because somehow Sri Lanka went on to amass over 500 and save the game in what was the crucial test of the series, as Sri Lanka went from strength to strength from that moment.

Yup. At the beginning of Day 3 SRL were 91/6 with Jayawardane and Maharoof batting in the first inning. They were bundled out for 190 and followed on and at the end of the day those two were batting together again at 183/3, this time in the second inning.

Well done, that means you get to set a new question. :)

hmm, I'll have to think about this, don't want it to be easy. Give me a day or two and I'll try and come up with something tricky.

Ok, not sure how many people will get this, I don't think it's too hard so here goes.

Who was the first player to score a century in their 100th Odi match?

- if you want a clue keep reading -

He also scored a 100 in his 100th test

Gordon Greenidge if memory serves me correctly.

Boooo! :p

You could have at least let the other chaps scratch their brains first!

Ah well, you are of course spot on Andrew. The clue which can be accessed by highlighting the line of text underneath the rest of the post, says that he also completed the rather remarkable feat of scoring a 100 in his 100th test too.

Your turn Mr Nixon, and I'm expecting a good 'un :)

And you shall have a good one!

There are plenty of family connections in cricket. There are brothers such as the Waughs, father/son combinations such as Alan and Mark Butcher and many more.

But can you name the only husband/wife combination to have both played international cricket?

I'll let you scratch your heads for a couple of days before I give you a clue.

Well I know that Richard and Karen Hadlee have both played for New Zealand. Karen played one Odi international sometime in the late 70's.

I decided however to look it up as well and see if there were anymore, and it turns out that there was another couple that I believe weren't married at the time of her caps, but were later married by the time he played? I won't mention their names as I didn't know it before investigating. Were you referring to them or to the Hadlees, Andrew?

I remember this being mentioned in that Q/Ans column on Cricinfo. Some English couple, although she played a bit before marrige...

I'm assuming researching isn't allowed?

That's the other couple I briefly mentioned in the post above yours ;)

Personally I thought it was no researching, but since I was interested I looked it up, however I won't post that answer as I didn't know it.

I'd actually forgotten about the Hadlees! It's actually two couples then. Who's the other? The English couple doesn't count as she played before they were married.
