Computers/Technology Quiz

Sure. There are 5 levels of CMMI by the SEI,and the level alloted to each IT company shows the current position of the company. The levels are as:

1)Initial:The beggining stage depending on indiviual brilliance and sheer luck for the company to move forward.

2)Repeatable:The next level where things are more stable.

3)Defined:The company is deveoping with qualitative assurance.

4)Managed:Both quality and quantity of the software product is pretty much guaranteed.

5)Optimised:At the peak level, everything is maintained and managed at its utmost efficiency.

There is also said to be a zero level, but I dont know much about it.

Hey, you don't know the founders of id software ?! . I took that you were an id aficionado, however it seems you only idolise Carmack. (Although there's nothing wrong with that :)).
Gee I hate him, I always thought playing Quake was so gay, UT rules all the way. Cliff Benzenski is my man.:D

Also I often read about all this stuff but don't bother remembering the names. not much of a history guy I m:p

Hmmm. Since everybody seems to have given up, let me post the answers to my questions here:

Q. Bushnell originally didn't want to name his company "atari" but something else. What was the original name ? (hint: think roofing companies!) ?

A. Syzigy, as correctly answered by Sid.
Q. How did Windows XP came to named such ?
(Hint: are you sure whistler was XP's original codename ? )

A. XP's design name was CAIRO in its early developmental stages. Now the letter X stands for "Chi" (pronounced CAI) and P as we all know is "RO" in greek. SO XP = CAIRO!

Q. An easy one: Name the founders of id software ?

I've already answered this in the "Your Favourite Game Designer/Programmer thread" but here goes anyway:

id software was started by John Carmack, John Romero, Adrian Carmack and Tom Hall when all of the were working for a magazine/publisher called "Softdisk". These 4 guys made games which were shipped free with softdisk on floppies every two months. They recognized the potential of their games one fine day when Romero and Carmack challenged each other to be the fastest to build a linear simulator (like "Mario") for the pc - a feat achieved only on consoles till that time. Both built it in an extremely short time within a couple of days (Carmack finished first :p) and so was born id software with a round of beer in Romero's cubicle at softdisk, and (cliche warning) the future of gaming was rewritten.

Another one: What relation are Adrian and John Carmack ?

I have a ques.
Which major game platform developer makes maximum profit.
Microsoft(xbox,xbox 360), sony (pS) or Nintendo ?

Wonderful!
It is Nintendo despit having a measly 5-10% market share, they still make max profits.
It's due to the fact that they make game titles themselves.
And real profit lies in selling games.

Alright, if Nintendo is the flavour of the season so here goes:

When was the Nintendo company set up and for what purpose ?

And don't google it! (or use other search engines/directories/encyclopaedias/wikipedias/resource or anything).
