DBC 17 Batting post Patch 3

No get best. I've never ever done it even before tbh.

Well blocker, I've waited all day to have the chance to use my PS4 and try it. To be honest I was not in any way looking forward to this. Mostly because I've reset/wiped all the teams/settings/logos/stadiums for a second time and also because I wasn't completely sure it'd work.

It has though. It has worked outstandingly well. I've just played a Five5 on medium everything, nothing custom. I chose medium batting/bowling and Pro AI, because since DBC'17 has come out I've had so little time knowing what to expect from this game, that I haven't been able to play and learn the game reliably at all.

So, in this Five 5 I had default nobodies New Zealand rated 89 against default nobodies England rated 90 and they won the toss and put me in to bat. I decided that I'd settle in for the first two overs and then have a go, but try and work the ball into as many different directions as I could and to also try out the footwork for shots I needed to reach for. I played pretty aggressively after about 10 balls of just re-adjusting and got 52/3 off my 5 overs. Bear in mind I was actively trying to play shots into as many parts of the field as I could to test them.

Pretty much everything worked as I would've like.

Timing was back to normal. It was miles apart from what it was like before.

The shots played out with the right levels of power that I'd expect for the timing I used.

Mistakes (about half a dozen), all felt my own.

No completely incorrect shots were triggered.

I have to say that this situation that we've had prior to this reset IS some sort of bug or issue, it does need found and addressed. I personally think blocker, myself and a few others were addressed completely incorrectly in this forum by some who appeared to believe that we'd lost our ability to play DBC. I can only speak for myself, but if I was getting about seeming to call into question long-standing posters playing abilities and suggesting they need to learn the game properly and then found out I was completely wrong, well I'd apologise. That's not meant in any nasty way, but just how I feel.

Anyhow, the only issues I found in that first session was runners, not going for the second when you queued it up after completing more than half a run.

The on-drive still has one minor issue in my opinion. (The following is with a ball not too far away from the body on the off-side and the shot stick surely placed in the on-drive position). It plays fine with foot-work if you lean that toward the off. With straight down on footwork though, I feel it makes very little to no effort to play towards the ball and produced a leg-glance style shot for me. I can understand that a little if the footwork had been leg-sidish a bit, but really you're asking for an on-drive and that shouldn't take for the ball to be directly at the middle of the body for straight-down footwork. It especially makes little sense as it seems like the leg-glance would be an even more unlikely and unbelievable shot for a batsman to attempt in that instance.

There was another minor issue, but I can't recall it right now. Still safe to say that I'm 1000% more happy with the batting and I didn't have to change my technique a bit!

@Max Walker glad it worked for you especially as it gives some verification I'm not completely insane!

Well I was wondering if it was just 2-3 of us out here with this issue. Now, it's just the process of adding things back in slowly until we get the issue again I guess and then remembering what the last thing we put back into the game was and hopefully finding the culprit factor.

Nearly all the money is on some corrupt logos for me though.

Get best will be my first add back in to see how that goes. Might leave it at that for 5-6 games though.

my hunch is that the issue comes when you have multiple logos with the same sharing id. quite how/why that issue results in such weird gameplay i don't know.

If anyone thinks they've got their save files in such a state, then I would be extremely interested in getting a copy. The Xbox One is annoyingly inflexible here, but on PS4 you can backup your save files to a USB drive, and restore them from there too - so you can compare the two and not lose progress.

As I said earlier, I want to find out what's going wrong for people here and get things improved.

Okay, have Get Bested the International Teams, the Australian State & Big Bash Teams and also the New Zealand domestic teams. Everything is still working as normal right now. Had a 2 player with the wife and both of us found everything playing much better still.

One thing though, whenever I had players come up who were already in the game from an earlier Get Best (International etc), I chose to keep the existing player and not update, I did the same with any logos that came up as replaceable. I just said no and kept them as they were from whatever earlier Get Best there had been.

Bearing in mind blockers thoughts in relation to multiple logos from the same sharing ID, I just thought this might have been worth a try also. So far, so good. Haven't altered much in the way of settings yet and haven't touched the gameplay modifiers or custom difficulty. Have been batting in broadcast also (tried it out in 1 player and played a whole 2 player that way) and no problems as yet.

Have lost what I had prior, due to resetting everything, but am slowly re-introducing things to my profile that I already had and will see what it produces as I go along stage by stage.

Funny although I only downloaded 3 teams manually I replaced every time as I thought by overwriting that avoids duplicates...

Actually the more I think and the more I look back at the issues I had during the rebel tour pre-patch, I am working towards bats being an issue.

I think i am pretty much loosing my mind reading all this... i cant believe how can downloaded logos and stuff adversely affect gameplay...it absolutely beats me...

I can't understand it either but I assure you its the truth. I've had it twice now, pre and post patch with wildly different results each time but both resulting in messed up gameplay.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I did replace logos and likenesses all the time in the previous version of the game I had and thought that overwriting them would ensure there'd be just one of anything too. This time around I thought "well, I have (for example Jimmy Neesham), so I'll not download anything of this one and keep the exisiting". The same when an "existing logo" for a bat or something would pop up.

I just thought that if I have a team (Australia) with a particular player downloaded via Get Best (lets say Glenn Maxwell) and I start overwriting his likeness with a new one from his state side with a different sharing ID to the Australia and a different bat logo from his Big Bash team with a different sharing ID and add a linked stadium from a different sharing ID, that there could be something going on that the game might not like. I just thought I'd say no to overwriting any firsts of anything like that for now.

I'm going to play a few different games tomorrow and then see if my custom game-play settings make any difference. Then the next step would be re-downloading everything else I've done again with the over-writing for everything I guess.

Probably the saved data. On ps4 you could choose lots of subsets (profile, academy, stadium, saved data, logos etc.)

I have a hunch - entirely unproven and not remotely tested- that the issue starts when you have lots of duplicate logos.

I think you may be onto something there. I have two profiles running. One has on disk teams and my created teams. The second has all the approved creators teams etc.
The first one is absolutely fine no problems. The other is unstable.
