DBC 17 Batting post Patch 3

Probably the saved data. On ps4 you could choose lots of subsets (profile, academy, stadium, saved data, logos etc.)

I have a hunch - entirely unproven and not remotely tested- that the issue starts when you have lots of duplicate logos.

I just deleted it and started from nothing. Game is doing it's get best thing. Hopefully it works.

I can either uninstall the game and start again or delete saved data

You can delete saved data. But make sure you select to delete from everywhere. The data is backed up, and if you just delete locally, it will download the previous backup when you start the game up again.

Explained on the xbox support site:

Using Cloud Game Saves | Xbox One

Unfortunately, Xbox will delete all the saved data. The PS4 has more control over what you can delete (e.g. logos only).

Cheers. That's what I've done. Hopefully it makes a difference. That Playstation way seems so much better.

I was going to sign up and post this earlier, but given the tension in here was wary of being shot down. Anyway...

Firstly, I have no experience in DBC 14, DBC 17 pre patch 3 and have only played PS4 version. I don't believe this invalidates my experience on batting post patch 3 though.

Secondly, I have not customised the game one iota, I didn't even do Get Best because I don't care about teams etc, just game play especially since I'm really only interested in career mode at this stage.

What I was going to say is that despite this, I have not really experienced many, if any, of the issues @blockerdave and co have been mentioning. Certainly no balls flying in the wrong direction (other than genuine edges), no bizarre shots being played (pull instead of on drive, etc) so I immediately thought perhaps its a corrupt settings file or something as a result of the patch/custom teams/stadiums/etc. I'd recommend anyone having strange goings on in the game delete the data files (on PS4 at least you should be able to retain saved games, etc) and play it again. Failing that, do an uninstall and re-install and download the patch before you do anything else. Hell, even after you get the patch, just play a friendly game before you download any new teams etc to make sure this isn't what's causing the game play to be unenjoyable.

A few things it won't fix -
  • Stamina won't last long, but in career with 21 y.o. at State level I still bowl high 120s as a fast-medium with 0 stamina
  • Keepers and close fielders still take ridiculous catches, especially against spinners
  • Timing feedback still appears wrong. It gives all greens and still you get edges, etc. At first I thought maybe it was just my low skill points, but deep down inside, I know I', mistiming shots when I get out
All in all, I find the game extremely enjoyable although batting is challenging as hell on Medium. My best score is only about 20-odd at grade T20 and the 2 innings I've played at State level I got 3 and 1. I'm meant to be a batting all-rounder, but seem to be getting selected purely for my bowling which I'm doing pretty good at. At best you could say I'm an extremely unlucky bowling all-rounder.

Anyway, I hope doing this improves the experience for many of you as it's the only thing I can think of why I'm not seeing the same issues. I have physical disc version purchased in AUS, that may also be a difference?

Well I deleted absolutely everything. Maybe there is only a subset of data that needed deleting but I don't know...

Tbh deleting the data didn't bother me as I don't play career, generally only play with a few teams I made myself and my experience prior to deletion was so bad if this hadn't worked I wouldn't be playing the game any more.

I mean I think it's still changed and is still tougher than pre patch... but it's in a way I can see myself improving at and understanding.

Honestly I've been having such a similar experience to you in relation to all of this, that I'm going to have to do it too, just to try. As the timing and error-ridden shots are just too much, to the point that I've never started my career.

So, you haven't done the get best? Consider it too risky for now?

i turned off the batting feedback and it makes the game so much more enjoyable, however there still needs to be some focus on the edging outside off for the easier difficulties, and for green balls that are almost wides - they deserve higher timing windows

sure we know that any ball on 4th to 5th stump is the corrider of edge - this rings true with reality - but i was hoping on easy difficulties this corridor would become much smaller (maybe this is done with bowl quality and tiuming sliders, but again we arent sure)

anyway its hard to put a finger on it - i feel the batting feedback is bugged. all batting greens and a nick isnt really all greens, and even the odd red that goes for 4 wasnt red at all - so turn it off. i never had batting feedback for anyother cricket game in the past, not sure why i kept this one on - maybe because i was still learning and testing the games various custom parameters

now (without the benefit of batting feedback) im edging off good green balls and the odd short (red) ball (because my cut shot is poor) - so it all adds up IMO. but i feel on easier difficulties this could be nerfed a bit.

hopefully when my cut shot gets up to the 80s i wont be nicking anything except green balls - which totally makes sense - i seem to have already mastered yellow full balls outside off because my driving is now 90.

anyway if you are getting too many green balls and edges maybe lower the bowl quality slider and timing slider. turn off batting feeback too. its much better

@cricket_online @christy_lenin1 @Max Walker @anyoneinterested:

So this afternoon I remembered an issue I was having pre patch when playing the 2nd test of my rebel tour. Inexplicably South Africa started setting ODI fields at the beginning of the test and just bowling the openers continually without any change. I remembered a post @BigAntStudios made about some of the other issues people were having actually being corrupt logos, and also that I had downloaded several teams just before I started the match for the first time.

I deleted all my data, re-downloaded the rebel tour teams and started again - hey presto, correct fields and normal bowling changes.

So tonight I've deleted all my data, and downloaded only my WSC teams. Well it's a different game.

I've batted 50 overs tonight and experienced none of the issues of early timing window, odd shot placement, unable to pull, keep getting reverse cut etc. that I was getting continually before. Moreover I actually had fun! (Or as much as fun as you can grinding out less than 3 an over against Dennis Lillee..)

Might be worth a shot for you or anyone else experiencing similar issues.

But how can logos impact gameplay related to batting and AI? Seems so weird. I've downloaded multiple teams and have modified a bunch of players. If I delete everything and start from the scratch it will take me hours to set everything right.

Do let us know your gameplay experience once you delete the custom stuff.

No get best. I've never ever done it even before tbh.

I don't pretend to understand it, appreciate it sounds weird. But I definitely saw a post to that effect from @BigAntStudios and I have definitely twice been getting weird shit happening over a period of time that deleting all my data and starting again has fixed.

Mine works great on ps4. Really enjoying the batting. I rarely bowl...(opener). No weird sliced shots here unless I edge the f**ker like I just did then

I have the sense that elements within the game are there but just not communicating well with each other and that the open end nature of all the modifiable elements is causing bottlenecks that impact other areas. I am not talking specifically console or pc here but generally.

On the batting feedback: it is very simply applied: so footwork only tells you: green well done you played frontfoot to this length of ball; that's ideal. It is not telling you that the actual footplacing is ideal for the line of the ball. That leads to frustration as you feel you are doing it right where as in fact you are still playing slightly down the wrong line. This feedback element is of course is an area that needs much more depth. The footwork determines the impact the bat has on the ball thus the difference between a four and a rather dissapointing push into the cover region even though the feedback is all green.

I play custom batting with increased time on the feedback circle: thus I can get my footwork into place and just worry about shot choice (def/att/modifier) and shot placement thus sliwly learning to read the circles and learning where to place my feet exactly after reading the feedback circle. I hope later to remove the feedback but need it for now to learn how to bat properly. It is very subtle and has great depth. So the colour determines front or backfoot and the circle shape determines where I need to place my feet exactly to execute the shot I wish to play on this ball.

In DBC14 I could bat without any hud elements whatsoever. With DBC17 I need the feedback as the subtle differences have a huge impact which is great afaiac.
