DBC 17 Batting

for traditional sweep right stick between 7 and 9 o'clock and for reverse sweep right stick between 3 and 5 o'clock ;)

L1 + front foot + right stick 12 o'clock (forward) would play a helicopter shot
L1 + back foot + right stick 6 o'clock (backwards) would play dill scoop over keeper (try this in nets first!)

Superb , cheers :)

I have played DBC 14 for a long time and just this week received my DBC 17 disc. I am very much disappointed in the batting as I have faced following issues;

1. Frontline batsmen not being able to hit a six even with everything ideal.

2. Frontline batsmen getting caught inside the circle with everything ideal. This doesn't make sense to me at all. Its not that the shot was hit hard and the fielder caught it by being in the line of the ball travel, it's more of the ball popping up in the air and the fielder running to catch it. How is that even possible at ideal timing and shot selection!

3. Nicks to the WK on ideal shots and timing!

All of these things are putting me off from playing!

Batting feedback system doesn't seem to work as intended and it's mentioned in the Bugs thread...

What difficulty?

I play on Medium Batting and I am able to hit sixes -- one thing to note though, I am very far in my career, my stats are up, in the beginning it was hard, so be patient, build your skills then try and be bold ;) its like its almost like REAL LIFE CRICKET. you dont start in kindergarten hitting everyone for six do you?

This is spot on , I'm just starting to improve 4 seasons in , particularly with batting and hitting boundaries

If you are batting on higher difficulties, timing of the shot + footwork is an absolute must to hit the shot. Also, if its in your career mode, then you need to let your player gain some experience points before you could take on confidently. One thing which most of us might miss is player stamina. If your career player is an all rounder, do take a look at his stamina if you have already bowled in the match. The other factor is the pitch conditions. So to me, there are many variables along with everything ideal thing.

I play with medium batting difficulty with Batsman Near Cam and am able to clear the field reasonably well playing as an international batsman. But in my career I suck, at least for now. I am playing as a batting all-rounder, opening the batting. I have almost completed 3 seasons and I average just 16 but I am loving the challenge. Good Luck !!

I am playing casual matches for now between international teams or t20 franchises and face these issues. I just wanted to get a hang of batting with established players before starting a career.

I'm playing on hard difficulty and even with that everything perfect should result in a six now and then especially when I'm playing an international player who has completed his fifty.

Plus what doesn't make sense is nicking to the keeper when you've got everything right or being caught inside the circle.

The biggest plus in DBC 17 is the slider for viewing "Ball Marker". This takes away pre-meditation as you can select the slider setting that you are comfortable with for viewing ball marker based on your preference (e.g., I have it set at 30). After that you figure out what works for you and what doesn't and you can bump up or down the batting difficulty via sliders to get the batting experience you desire. Once Big Ant fix the batting (360 degree shot control and adding a few missing shots - e.g., cover drive and a true flick/leg glance to fine leg) the game would be the best cricketing game.

The cover drive is in the game. It's one I play often. With reverse batting controls and broadcast camera I point the footwork down and left (towards off side) and the batting stick in the same direction.

Once again... that's the off drive which goes to extra cover or mid off region. The traditional cover drive through Cover & Cover point region along with Square Drive through Cover point & Backward point region aren't there. Hit the cover drive and look at the wagon wheel and see what it shows.

I see what you mean. Anything beyond a certain point turns into a cut.

Except for the deadzone and missing shots, batting is spot on in this game. I can only imagine how much more fun it would be when we can play through cover, third man, and fine leg. There is such great potential in the game. So much hinges on patch 3. I hope BA delivers.

Check out Dutch's video of the cover drive, on the PC version.
