DBC 17 Batting

try charging using both trigger L2 and R2 -- keeps the ball along the ground ;)

but you can charge without any triggers and it still goes in the air - mind you the timing is bad though. I notice my 6's when I charge are like 100m but if I hit a 6 straight or over square leg the 6's are only 70-80m anyone else notice this?

Sorry if you charge holding R2 trigger is goes along the ground. the R2 trigger is specifically for ground shot charges

yes it is for normal shots, for charge shots (R3) its definately to keep ball on ground, you can defend a charge shot as well by pulling back on right stick.

looks like ill have to get in the nets and try this out - what are the shots ppl are using to hit boundaries vs spinners? I just have the lofted shot thru square leg

Here you go @cricket_online this is the low crouch whatever you call it shot? You can only play this "special" shot at point or behind.
And this other one you can only play in front of point. Actually for some reason this shot is harder to find than the other one, but when you do get it absolutely rockets to the fence haha!

And this is me batting on a soft pitch, you'll probably notice that I play at the very last ball when I should have left it!

I default to just tonking everything with advancing straight drives. At least twice an over it tends to slip past the bowler, and for any full (yellow) pitched balls, I loft it if there aren't any fielders on the ropes.

Apart from that, I do quite like playing the old glance for six, only when the ball is on the stumps though. I leave anything way wide of off, it's usually a wide, but I have had good luck cutting to cover point region from spinners.

Impossible to stand and play lofted shots with a fielder on the rope though from my experience.

EDIT: Didn't want to double post, so I'll edit this

I struggle to play lofted shots guys, I don't know what it is, but I'm playing T20s on Easiest difficulty batting, and Rookie match difficulty. I'm playing with custom teams (basically only play with BBL teams, stats edited by me to have for example, Lynn and McCullum in the 90s, Starc at 96 etc), and playing as the Heat, I haven't won a game yet. I've got the two best batters in my game, and yet one of them (Lynn) can't hit a six to save his life. I'm timing it fine, because I'm hitting them the same way with McCullum, but when I'm batting as Lynn, I just cannot get it over the rope, straight to a fielder every time.

Makes it impossible to chase the targets set by the opposition, particularly given that my bowling attack is pretty weak in comparison (I aimed for semi-realism, Heat's batting is way better than its bowling IMO).

@cricket_online I like you're batting approach pretty much my approach as well, the only thing I do differently is adjust to variance of bounce from a hard pitch to a soft pitch, basically I've found hard pitches bounce more so I can backfoot drive to green length deliveries outside off, and red length deliveries get high on you much more frequently and becoming the most dangerous length in my experience. Soft pitches bounce is lower meaning I dont risk trying to play backfoot drives to green length deliveries, but I do find soft pitches easy to play red length deliveries by hooking and pulling, also soft pitches I find the most dangerous length is green, because it sometimes not quite there to frontfoot drive leading to edges and not quite there to rock onto the backfoot drive because sometimes it stays low/skids on leading to bowled and lbw's. So yeah basically the same I just take into account the bounce for the different pitches! Surely you've noticed the difference in bounce?

Hi, I have used this but I can't find the button to come down the crease is this it depending on length, have I missed something?

Just a sideways note playing 3 day game for vics made 91 fairly confidently in first dig then bowled well came out 2nd innings fatigued and struggled to play shots i creamed in the first bottom egdges for 4 had to really buckle down take out the aggressive shots and they bowled wide of off stump and short alot knowing i don't play there very enjoyable

You do know about rejuvenating stamina with leave shots ... I wonder if there is a limit to this, one does not expect to get back to 100% late in your second innings surely :)

I didn't know that,, thanks I started at 22% have been leaving balls so just as well he might've passed out

Yes the difference in bounce is there and the ball seems to go to the boundary faster on hard pitches compared to the soft pitches. Downside of hard pitches is that the bowlers give way too many extras (wides & byes) on hard pitches.
