DBC 17 Batting

Struggling with anything offside at the moment, once in a blue moon I'm able to connect with a cut shot (that wierd square drive animation off the front foot), having good success leaving anything wide. Anything full and slightly outside off is getting put away to wide mid off.

Would appreciate tips regarding the cut shot, especially off the front foot - the one you play with Right Stick at 3'0 clock position for a right-hander. Currently stuggling to play the shot with some consisteny coz sometimes the batsman steps back and stabs/pokes his bat to the off side, and sometimes the batsman leans-in/crouches to play the shot. results in lots of clean bowleds, LBWs or edges depending on the animation I get. Any tips/hints when to play the shot, which line/length and which pitch type would be ideal for the same?
Yep with the front foot square drive\cut, you can play that shot on all pitch types, the tip is to only play it to yellow and dark blue length deliveries and wait for the width, don't try it to straight balls or green length deliveries on any pitch type especially early on, you can break the rules later on when confidence meter is up but It's better to have a plan early on and stick to it, also taking notice of pitch types before games is crucial! I'm not too sure about the backfoot cut, you definitely need the perfect amount of width, too wide you can't get near it, too straight trouble, I'd say the ideal time to play it is to green length deliveries on hard pitches and red length deliveries on soft pitches, of course you need the right amount of though.

Just uploading some batting on a hard pitch atm, I'll try to put it up soon from my ps4 but if not I'll wait for gf to come home with the smart phone haha!

Just wondered how do i check my confidence and stamina while batting? Xbox

Press up on d-pad. The stamina & confidence of both the batsmen and the bowler is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Nice to see batting strategies being discussed, always the best way to share the personal experience with the game..And that is what I like to look in the gameplay videos too, their approach in batting and that in DBC varies a lot from person to person, the reason why DBC is the best cricket game series..

For what its worth which isnt much as i play on easy lol I play front foot to everything bar red length I block blue play drives to anything middle stump to outside off footwork and angles depends on what drive and leg glance and pull off the front foot anything leg side leave short balls on and outside off back foot pull and hook others and play everything on the ground use modifiers as innings progress but use strong drive to yellow early don't hit in the air maybe when my player gets better will be able to right now just goes out trying 6 hits. But thats just me

And are you able to figure out when will the batsman play the "step back and poke" cut and when the "lean-in & crouch" shot? If I know how my batsman is going to react it might save me a lot of trouble. Wish there was one consistent animation rather than two distinct ones so you can adjust accordingly.

Here's my updated batting approach to various line & length deliveries...

Wide outside off (Half moon):
Overpitched (blue or yellow) - Leave or Front foot Off drive to extra cover/mid off area or front foot late cut to Square Gully depending on the field and match situation
Length (green) - Leave or front foot late cut to Square Gully
Short (red) - Back foot late cut to Square Gully

Just outside off (Almost full moon/circle):
Overpitched (blue or yellow) - Leave or Front foot Off drive to extra cover/mid off area
Length (green) - Mostly Leave or in case Reqd RR is high play front foot late cut to Square Gully
Short (red) - Leave or Back foot late cut to Square Gully

On Stumps (Full moon/Circle):
Overpitched (blue or yellow) - Front foot Glance/flick to Square Leg or Front foot Off drive to Extra cover/mid off area depending on the field
Length (green) - Front foot Straight Drive
Short (red) - Leave or Back foot Hook/Pull through Mid wkt

Outside Leg (Almost full moon/circle):
Overpitched (blue or yellow) - Front foot Glance/flick to Square Leg
Length (green) - Front foot Glance/flick to Square Leg or Front foot Straight Drive
Short (red) - Leave or Back foot Hook/Pull through Mid wkt

Note: Never play late cut shot against spinners as you risk getting caught by the acrobatic wkt keeper who literally jumps up to 8-10 feet to catch everything

I mostly stick to regular shots without any modifiers and rarely play lofted shots except against free hits. Also I avoid playing cut shots (3'0 clock on Right Stick) and sweept shots as I find these shots risky.

I have been successfully playing this shot on the suggested yellow length but it looks so wrong. We should not be able to cut Yorkers length this regularly in any cricket. Irl a batsmen can some time dab the Yorker to third man but this is rare and only happens in death overs when batsman is well in. AI regularly cuts the same yellow/yorker length balls for sixers which is very unaesthetic to see.

Here's the hard pitch batting plan... I'm not perfect but hopefully it's a bit of a help.
Doing the soft pitch right now!

Batting against spinner is really boring. The only shots you can play to score are sweeps, on drive and leg glance. I am looking to get the timing of lofted shot and advance down the wicket shots to increase areas of scoring. The keeper and slip supermen need to be sorted out.

Oh yeah try putting the bat force slider to 13 as well, you might find it gives you a more realistic scoring rate in tests, and also less chance of the dreaded "wicket time".

Yeah the lean and crouch is when you try and play through point and the dab is more cover point region.[DOUBLEPOST=1483861841][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yep it looks horrible lol.

I don't know, I barely play any of those shots to spinners unless it's down leg side.

The late cut off the front foot works a treat for anything outside off and you can drive them through the covers through really tight fields if you time it properly. Its also pretty easy to hit them square for six if they give you the width.
