DBC 17 Batting

Yeah the lean and crouch is when you try and play through point and the dab is more cover point region.

But do you know when will one or the other will be played? i.e. if it's yellow length delivery just outside off it's "step back and poke" and if it's blue or yellow length delivery wide outside off it's "crouch and lean". So far I haven't been able to figure out when either of these shot animations will play out and have no control which shot will be played out resulting in dismissals.

I don't know, I barely play any of those shots to spinners unless it's down leg side.

The late cut off the front foot works a treat for anything outside off and you can drive them through the covers through really tight fields if you time it properly. Its also pretty easy to hit them square for six if they give you the width.

Don't you get caught behind by the keeper often? My failure rate playing the shot was so high, and so unrealistic, that I had to shelve the shot as the keeper jumps to 4th slip/gully area to snaffle catches. Is there a specific line & length you use the front foot late cut shot against spinners (i.e., yellow colored and wide outside off)?

Also, how do you hit them square for six? Do you use the front foot cut shot (3'0 clock on right stick for right-handers)? If yes, what's the line & length you use for playing the shot (i.e., yellow colored & just outside off or green colored & wide outside off)?

I play it off green only and it has to be outside off stump. I direct it at between 3 and four o,clock. It normally goes through the gully along the ground. I have only been caught from the keeper once or twice but it was because I butchered the timing. The best ball is the half green outside off stump.

The six is just a similar shot with the aggressive button down. Same ball though the green outside off stump.

Doesn't the Omni present slipper stop your cut shots? If keeper doesn't get you, the slipper will.

Ha ha! I wouldn't try playing the cut shot if there's a slip or gully in place. But there are a couple of fields where you don't have slips for the spinner or only have the 1st slip leaving a gap you can exploit. But the superman wkt keeper's agility scares me after falling victim a few times. Let me share my experience of DBC 17 wkt keepers against spinners with you. The following clip should explain everything and the reason for my reluctance to play cut shots against spinners...

@Callytee I played the above shot to a green length delivery wide of off and the batting feedback said that my shot selection, footwork and timing were all "Ideal". That's the reason wanted to know how you are able to play a similar shot successfully.

Looking at that footage I'd say it's too fine, move it more to 3 o'clock. Mine go closer to the other fielder at short point more than anything. Looking at it again I also think the timing is slightly late.

The batting feedback system isn't working in that case as I got 3 "Ideal" for the shot. Even if the timing or shot direction is slightly off the margin of error is way too low and not realistic. There's no way the wkt keeper should even come to close laying a hand on that ball. The fact that the wkt keeper pre-meditates, knows where the ball is going to be hit and gets into position beforehand is a concern. Should definitely be fixed as it takes away from the already limited hitting zones available while batting.

For what its worth which isnt much as i play on easy lol I play front foot to everything bar red length I block blue play drives to anything middle stump to outside off footwork and angles depends on what drive and leg glance and pull off the front foot anything leg side leave short balls on and outside off back foot pull and hook others and play everything on the ground use modifiers as innings progress but use strong drive to yellow early don't hit in the air maybe when my player gets better will be able to right now just goes out trying 6 hits. But thats just me

Nothing wrong with easy,, nothing at all we all have to learn, it's all about timing and placement some bugs but this will be sorted.

Yay! I am so thrilled and relieved!

im sorry but the keeper catching ANYTHING that isn't a faint nick off a spinner is NOT OK - regardless of the timing meter, footplace etc

lets be realistic here and not focus on other things which may justify a superman keeper - anything going to first slip and wide should go for runs or a catch from fieldmen in those positions

one of the major disconnects we have in this game is the animation transitions - when a ball is thrown from a fielder the bowler or keeper initiate last second, late reaction dive, and on the flip side going to the other extreme when a batman nicks a spinner, the keepers anticipations is 'psychic'.

im playing on amateur level, medium batting difficulty and im finding myself playing the pace bowlers alright (occasional knicks to keeper or slip) I can live with that all part of the game - but struggling to score vs the spinners - I have started trying to charge the spinners - would like some advice or guidelines as to when you think you should charge the spinners or how to score boundaries vs spinners - charging the spinner to a green length ball is either 6 or caught on the boundary lol
