dbc hacks: fearsome tweak v2.90 +minigame v0.03

@funnyadit What version of the hack are you using and setting + in-game difficulty?? Good write up, makes me wish the story forum was still alive! The matches are very realistic now I have had so many little chances etc too, feels like real cricket!

@blockerdave I've used v1 for a few matches and I've gotten great varied edges, I'm really at a loss on what patch to use;

0.04 - on normal pressure (AI seems to bat better, but not as many edges)
0.04 - on high pressure (AI nicks it more and more varied dismissals but sometimes it seems like it's too easy)
v1 - which is normal pressure only (I got good results with this but again the AI batting seemed to lack a little)

and I need to test v1.1...

EDIT: Okay guys I'm going to do some rigorous testing, I'm going to do a 3 match ODI series with each of the hacks I've mentioned above, same teams etc the only thing out of my control is weather and I might even keep the same pitch lol.
 
Hi all,

'Working from home' today, so I got to give this a try out for a couple of hours.

  • v1.00, four-day county match on pro difficulty.
  • Season mode, on a road of a pitch!
  • My career player's a left arm quick in the early days, so I basically got to test out three new-ball spells.

I started out with a 'normal' setting, and though I didn't notice a massive difference, I did notice that the AI didn't seem to be middling the ball as much. Balls defended were moving away from the bat at different angles, etc.

During the second spell, I thought I'd have fun and crank the pressure up to 'very high'.

IMMEDIATELY got a couple of edges that went square, and ended up mopping up the tail with a mix of LBW and bowled.

The fun really started in the second innings new ball spell, though:

Kept on very high pressure, just to see what would happen.

I'm not exaggerating to say that this feel is exactly what I've always wanted out of bowling in a cricket game. Though it was obviously tipped in my favour a bit too much - the pitch was a road and it was playing like a greentop! - the three early dismissals I picked up were ALL edges. And real edges - two going to the keeper and one to second slip.

(I wish I could have saved the replay of the last one, because it was PERFECT - L.A bowler to L.A. batsman, the ball just straightening slightly and sending a feather through to the keeper. Best looking and feeling dismissal I've ever picked up on a cricket game).

I also picked up an LBW that looked more like the real deal: the late swing beating the right arm batsman and hitting plumb in front.

Finally, I got a caught and bowled. But not in the normal 'they smash it and I fluke a catch an inch off the floor'. This was a slower delivery that they mis-timed, and popped a catch up around waist height. Glorious.

When using a pacer, I feel like I can get wickets in the way they actually would - edges, LBWs, etc. Not just caught at mid-on or bowling because the batsman's playing three stumps away from the right line.

IN SHORT. Franco, take a bow mate! I concur what I've read elsewhere: I hope BA are talking to you ahead of DBC17!
 
ahhhh you PC gamers are so lucky! i wish there was something like this for the console version, looks like our version will be called DBC 17.
 
@funnyadit Ah right, sorry I skimmed...Interesting results with 0.04 high pressure. I think I was playing on veteran 0.04 high pressure and south africa managed to get to 244 and funnily enough I was using AUS to bowl too. They had a big collapse then the tailend smashed me about

The best part was it was very very realistic...Not one shot which felt "oh man not again"...There was this one shot where I bowled short cross seam delivery on the ribs and the batsman played the ball backfoot guiding the ball between the fine leg and square leg fielders inside the circle with the pace taking the ball to the boundary, now that felt really good...Even tailenders hitting shots were driving length, few straight punches between deep mid on and off , one was between cover extra cover and cover fielder..Brilliant gameplay...That made me feel the pressure not to bowl the bad balls and keep my plan in focus and executing it accordingly..
 
@funnyadit yep that has happened to me too, I've strayed a bit trying to trap the batsmen lbw with a straight up seam delivery and it's ended up going to far down leg and punished accordingly!

I've began my testing, is there any kind of user blog that people can create on PC? So I can have all my info in one place, that way if anyone wants to read the results then they can head there + keeps it organized for you guys to read too!

Just start your own thread? Ask Matt if its okay? On a side note I want to start a campaign to get "Fearsome Tweak" changed into "The Italian Job"*

*You only had to blow off the bloody doors!

Again had another great game in my 4 ball over world pro 40 league....Vanuatu against Nepal....edges, catch at third slip...love it that they start bitch-slapping me around in the powerplay and got a couple of decent catches right in the deep after they started getting cocky...Vanuatu on a roll!

Are you guys batting with the hack as well as bowling?

I've found using the hack when batting seems very difficult, I had a lot of situations where I'd be playing and missing shots like a simple forward defensive, edges out the backside and all in all very difficult. However I have just come to grips with batting on veteran without the hack so take my opinion with a tiny pinch of salt...

for high pressure at legend difficulty suits well for both batting and bowling and makes an even contest, i would say its slightly more difficult but not too much or unrealistic. you just have to be watchful a bit early with the drives but you can still nail them if you time them well! It also makes the batting edges varied to like, now you have to worry about that second slip or a leading edge popping up etc! I would say give it a bit of try say a couple of matches to adjust and you will be at home!

Playing an India vs Bangladesh match at the moment on V1.0 (normal)

Spin bowling is an absolute blast, even got a legitimate bat-pad dismissal!

Thought I had about 10 edges recorded but my capture software wasn't kind to me.

Bowling is so much fun, and you still get punished severely for bowling bad balls, so it actually feels good knowing you can bowl a good one and actually have a chance at getting a wicket.

The batsmen playing off line means that you even get some plays and misses in line with the stumps; ergo; bowled and lbw dismissals.

Such an improvement over plays and misses only occuring outside off stump.

I'm actually shocked at the extent that this hack improves the game. Phenomenal.
 
had a great end to my latest tour match, harold holt memorial xi v england worst...

had them 5 down with around 70 to get. a good stand and it really looks like they will win easily, especially when i drop a catch in the gully.

get a wicket, 6 down 30 to get.

got 2 more, including a brilliant slip catch. had some close lbw's, and edges not carrying / going to space. lose by 2 wickets. felt really tense.

really, really good stuff. love it.
