Death...

Lads, can we just ignore Usy on this one please? He's obviously got no idea and this thread was developing nicely until he spouted his genius ramblings.

I never said anyone to in the first place, just because you guys can't get into a decent friendly argument.

Interesting little question from me.

Q. Many religions state that God is a part of each and every being. Is the soul the part of God which lies in each of us?

I'll start a vbookie event for when this thread will be closed.

Chances of being closed pre-Usy:

Usy mate, I'm religious and have nothing worng with science. However there are parts of science which cannot be proved and there are parts of religion that has been dis-proved or explained by science, i.e. Great Flood (melting ice from Ice Age) Nothing wrong with letting people express their views :)

I love science..

I hate when people say science is everything in life.
every little thing makes our "big" lives.

i think some jewish sect belives the exact thing, can't remember their name.

Well, I don't believe in God, but I can't figure out why we have different personalities. It's baffling.

Is that the thing which makes you look without right without thinking before stepping out and saves you from being hit by a bus?

I'd guess that that is the subconscious which is merely an acting out of trained reflexes in your example.

Define inner conscience (please:)).

Guides us to making our decisions? Guides the brain to making decisions? Helps us make quick and hard decisions by helping the brain make decisions?

I'm tired and on all forums tonight I have worded every post wrong so far...

What I define as inner conscience is that little voice inside your head that tells you not to do something. Like for example, a really drunk girl is all over you at a party and you want to kiss her because it's an open opportunity for some lovin', but there's that voice inside you that says "woah wait a minute mate, she's got a full keg inside her. Best leave her alone". I always listen to my conscience as it's always the right decision. It's what really makes me believe that there is a God.

I am firmly agnostic (oxymoron?) but I think that the sort of inner conscience which people are talking about can mostly be explained as calculated decisions by the brain. Things such as wanting to do good for humanity ('philanthropy' for anyone writing a dictionary) is even a selfishly motived deed since one gets joy out of doing so. What makes us feel good for doing something though, is far more interesting and complex. Psychologists say that it is part of the lymbic system (IIRC) but I am unsure whether this is an attempted to explic the inexplicable (to paraphrase House).

Firstly, please do not take any of my comments as trying to debunk your belief in God, because I respect such a belief fully.

Your decision not to 'do' a drunk girl would take into consideration how it may look toward you to take advantage and how you would want to be percieved - even your self pride, which is the knowledge that you respect yourself. The girls' performance in bed may even lie (pun intended) in some of your thoughts too - the fact is that the brain takes into consideration more things than the conscious mind can comprehend (at the time) in making a decision. I think that the seperation between the blood rushing to the penis and the blood rushing to the brain does not help prove the existance of God.

:D

I am so immature.

Sorry, I don't get it.
