Oh, and why this obsession with everyone having to be a role model? So what if Pete isn't a role model, why should he have to be?

Let's get hypthetical here Simon, if your dad was a druggie would you call him scum? If he fought his damdest to eventually give them up would you call him scum?

Doherty may be a druggy, but he is the best British songwriter in the UK atm, every single one of his songs is fantastic, The Libertines are amazing, as are Babyshambles. The guys got caught up in something that he shouldnt have, hes tried to kick the habit, hence the trips to the priory, he's not scum. I dont respect the fact that he takes drugs, but at least hes trying to get off them. Most big bands and artists in the past have taken drugs, are they all scum ? Hendrix, Zepplin, Marley, Beatles, i'm sure all of them have taken heaps of drugs, are they scum ?

Libertines and Babyshambles are pure class however I really do hate Doherty not because he is a druggie just because he is an ass. I just feel sorry for people who take drugs and just hope they get help.

I find this fascination with Pete Doherty incredible, I don't think he's the worst artist in the country, but he's a long way from being the best. I don't think he's got that much talent tbh.

Read the blood diaries and you'll understand. A quarter of that book is songs he won't ever record, despite the fact if someone put some pop music behind it any manafactured band would snap them up.

Also, if you read the Blood Diaries, you'll understand everthing he has done to get off drugs etc.
