You can't fault too many of the batsmen. They were got out by Johnson. He becomes a different bowler all together when the ball swings, plus he swings it late as well.

We need some wickets tomorrow for sure, but without a spinner in the Aussie, line-up 300-350 should be chase-able on the last day.

Not necessarily to be fair. As Mark Taylor said on commentary the pitch like Perth 2008, will likely just get better for batting, but wont deteriorate like the Adelaide wicket, in which a spinner will have effect.

So AUS quicks will just have to work harder for wickets in the final inngs. Presuming theyhave a fairly substantial 4th innings total to defend i.e 350-400.

Utterly pathetic batting from England. I love all the superlatives being thrown at Mitchell Johnson, am I the only one thinking our top order gave pretty much all their wickets away to him? Cook flaying a drive and Colly, Trott and KP missing straight ones.

That's pretty negative. Collingwood was about ready to leave his before it came back at him. How that is a 'straight one' I dunno. Trott and KP could have been a bit more circumspect I suppose, but if the ball hadn't swung those would have been clips for 4. Cook probably should have known better, as the full cover drive is a shot he's basically refrained from playing for the first Tests. But again, it was the swing away that got him. The ball initially looked nice and tight to his body, but the swing took it further away than he could handle.


And I'd be interested to hear any Phil Hughes fanboys this morning. How do you think your boy is going?

For me personally, I can't see how he's going to score many runs in the next 2 Tests. His footwork is terrible and his eye isn't in the best form it's ever been in either. England haven't given him anything to hit outside off, unlike the clueless Saffers a couple of years ago. And that seems to be the key, bowl straight and he can't do ████. If Australia wins here, I'm guessing he gets retained, but I think he looks awful. Usman would be a better partner for Watson for me.

If they win it'll be the same standard Aussie formula - don't change a winning team. Beer might struggle to get a run in Melbourne in that regard.

If Australia fail, then Usman could come in for Hughes, Ferguson for Smith and Beer/random Victorian spinner for Siddle. Depends how overreactionary the selectors are feeling.

Smith's got some important work to do with the ball tomorrow anyway. If he can bowl 15 decent overs a day, then it makes a 4 fast bowler attack a much better prospect for the the long term.

Can i just say, Even if the ball didn't swing, Johnson has changed dramatically. NO WIDES IN THAT INNINGS. Johnson usually is the king of wides but now brilliant bowling by johnson.

Going to take an impressive fourth innings from England to win this. Normally you'd think they could chase about 350-400 against this bowling attack...but with Mitch firing it becomes so much harder.
