I just had one of my most amazing and satisfying wins. First test in my 2027 Ashes Tour.
I check the weather, miserable, damp, 3 days due to rain and the other two overcast for the majority of them. The first day has at least looks like providing a whole day as does the 5th. Up goes the coin, I lose the toss and the Aussies are unsurprisingly going to bat.
1 over before the end of the day they are all-out, and my two openers make it through to the end of play. Rain... Rain.. Rain... Eventually with only 15 overs of day 4 left England have a lead of around 50 odd with almost all of the 2nd and half the 3rd day washed out. Still a chance I tell myself, get a few quick wickets and it's not over!
End of day 4 Aussies openers are still there. Day 5 starts, and the fireworks begin. 50 overs into the day and the Aussies have been skittled, 40 overs left and with just 120 odd runs needed my openers comfortably make it through the difficult 10 overs new ball spell, and then precede to launch the onslaught and comfortably make it home in time for dinner and a cold pint.
In total just under 12 hours of play lost, and still able to go 1-0 up in the series, a lead I ended up never losing. I was mighty happy, and all in all, it was a cracking 5th day!
