That is the a very vague statement, care to elaborate? impact? what impact will a more open and transparent moderation process have? besides a positive one.
I just find the whole secrecy thing a bit unnecessary. This is a forum, not the bloody Gestapo.
What this reason is is a mystery. The members are curious that's all. People are banned for no apparent reason, a ban list would keep us informed. There's never a banning so serious that a blanket category couldn't be sufficient. I don't see how it could possibly harm the 'business' either. At the end of the day, staff decisions are private and for a reason, it's not just being confidential on the behalf of who was banned but for us as well.
I think it would just expose mods who are ban happy. I cannot fathom any other reason for keeping it quiet. I do not buy this whole "peoples right to privacy" act.
As I mentioned earlier, in most cases the reasons for their bans are contained in deleted posts. So if we say someone was banned for spamming, and all the spam is deleted, people will be complaining that the ban wasn't justified. What this reason is is a mystery. You've still failed to mention WHY you want this open process. As someone said, gossip?I think it would just expose mods who are ban happy. I cannot fathom any other reason for keeping it quiet. I do not buy this whole "peoples right to privacy" act.
We want an open process, it does not have to be democratic but you cannot deny that majority of your "customers" want to know why people get banned.
Because it saves members being kept in the dark. You've still failed to mention WHY you want this open process. As someone said, gossip?
