Very interesting reading. Good to see Nathan Waller doing well; he is pretty much our only young all-rounder coming through at the moment, so I hope he sticks with Zimbabwe cricket. However if it all collapses like it possibly could, at least he'd be able to play for Ireland.

Has Mathew Bentley made an appearance yet? I Heard he was interested in joining Ireland as well.

Don't think Craig Ervine will wait the four years to be a Ireland player. I think he's just gone there to blow-off some steam, after being treated badly (as usual) by ZC. :)

Namibia play in the CSA Provincial One Day Comp.

Also didn't Ireland and Netherlands use to play in one of England's domestic one day comps?

Ireland and Scotland used to play in the old C&G Trophy, and until this coming season, Scotland and Netherlands played in the Yorkshire Bank 40 along with the Unicorns and other counties.

These days, though, they will be contesting the North Sea Cricket League. It will be between the Western Reivers and Caledonian Highlanders (Scotland) and the North Holland Hurricanes and South Holland Seafarers (Netherlands) who will play 50-over and Twenty20 matches.

The Dutch Topklasse (top flight) is getting ready for a very tight relegation battle this season. With only a couple of games left, the bottom 5 sides are all on equal points. It looks like NRR might come into play for as a decider.

The league is built up of 3 phases, a full league with all 8 teams, followed by a phase II where the top 4 and the bottom 4 are split in 2 groups, playing each other once, with points carried from phase I. The finals are then played between the top two teams after phase II, on a best-of-three basis. The bottom team in the bottom group after is relegated.

The current situation is that Quick Haag are top with 22 points, and already certain of a finals-spot. They are followed by Dosti on 19, and ACC on 13 - and mathematically able to overtake Dosti and reach the finals. The rest of the teams - HCC, VRA, Hermes/DVS, VOC, and Excelsior - all have 10 points. One of them will get themselves safe on the next matchday, the rest will go into a very tight race against relegation.

It's been a very strange season with ups and downs for all of the bottom 6 teams throughout the season. ACC recovered well after an initial string of close defeats, HCC have looked like they were in serious trouble halfway through the season, VRA and Excelsior have failed to convert good starts and landed in a losing rut, and VOC have picked up their points throughout the season in a fairly regular fashion. On August 3rd, another team will put themselves in a safe position. The rest of them will have a very nervous three games ahead of them.
