Callum Ferguson is also a chance, consistency king. If only he could get into the test team soon....

Raina, being a young guy, he'll be around. Also AB De Villiers is quite cinsistent and should be here to stay

Can see Ryder and AB De Villiers dominating. Raina has potential, but he needs to improve a lot before he can actually dominate world cricket.

Fixed for accuracy ;)

Raina for the most part is such an average batsmen, his saving grace is that he plays in a team where he's the sixth best batsmen and he can come in down the order. He has way too many technical faults at the moment to even consider him as one of the next dominant players.

Umar Akmal would be one of my picks, although I haven't seen that much of him to form a strong opinion of him yet, the same goes for Mohammed Aamer. From the Windies I can really see Adrian Barath and Kemar Roach being outstanding cricketers for a long time, Barath is really going to be a special player.

I can't see Ross Taylor being a dominant player, both Guptill (in the one day game) and Ryder have both already past him as our best batsmen, and Guptill is a whole two years younger. I can see Guptill becoming really dominant in ODI cricket, but he has yet to play enough FC cricket to know if he'll be as good in FC/Test cricket.

Oh and BTW, this poll lacks the Kane Williamson option ;)

Tough question. at the start of this decade you had Ponting and Sachin already doing good, so too Dravid, McGrath, Warne. At the start of the 90's guys like S and M Waugh were coming good, but not unheard of. Only Warne and McGrath came from nowhere to dominate the 90's, for Australia.

I think some new guys will surface in the next few years, otherwise I'll pick Hughes and Devilliers, he looks VERY good. You'd think Duminy would always be up there, but I'll reserve judgement until he's toured the rest of the world, he's only played one team in test cricket so far!

1. Phillip Hughes - He's good on ICC '09, why not?
2. Jean-Paul Duminy - Epic Batsman.
3. Ajantha Mendis - Middle Finger assassin.

Middle finger assassin - I lolled

Umm, how about Rohit Sharma?

Cannot believe Raina is being rated ahead of Hughes

For one Phillip Hughes is two years younger. And also he has a head start on having played test cricket. Also, with a better domestic record in all forms. But maybe I'm just biased.....

Quite a few in the poll could well be dominant cricketers. Hughes has that work ethic that you want all your players to have and hes already developed something to counter the short ball.

JP and De Villers are outstanding talents for SA and have performed very well so far.

Akmal has done so well in the ODIs, he has something about him that speaks success. Mendis has made an impact that few spinners have done at such a young age.

Siddle and Sharma have the right ingredients to be successful, Sharma maintaining his pace while Siddle is more consistency in line and length and swing.

I don't see what technical flaws Ryder has? he has bad shot selection sometimes, that, if it has to be something, is the flaw you'd want in a young batsman. it'll sort itself out with experience of conditions and bowlers.

Hughes is hungry enough, but perhaps more a new graeme smith, at best, than a new ponting.

Raina - unsure about, still something not quite that epic about him.

not seen barath or akmal.

India: Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and *fingers crossed* Pradeep Sangwan
South Africa: Wayne Parnell, AB De Villiers, JP Duminy
Australia: Callum Ferguson, Phillip Hughes
Sri Lanka: Angelo Matthews
Pakistan: Umar Akmal, Mohammad Aamer
Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan
West Indies: Adrian Barath
New Zealan: Jesse Ryder, Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor

John Paul Duminy has shown some killer instinct in his approach towards the game. I think he'll be a fine cricketer in the coming years. The world's best cricketers are those who shine in all formats of the game. If he's able to play all three forms of the game fluently, then on any given situation, he'll be able to come up with match winning knocks.

Phillip Hughes, Hughes, Hughesy, Phil, Phillip, yeah.
Hugh?

It's actually Jean. And yes, he might just be the next Garry Sobers!
