Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

This game seems quite good from the screen shot. But you can't always judge a book by it's cover.

Absolutley agree. This is why where there are similarities I refer to the AFL and Rugby League games so much so that it can be seen that there is a track record of implementation not just talk.

It's also why we have play sessions prior to games being released, we have nothing to hide and want to make sure that everyone sees what they are getting before they committ to a purchase.

...I'm in Melbourne end of January. I'll wear my constructive cap ;)

You were always going to be the first invite I sent :D

Like Melbourne.

Take... That... Back...

You were always going to be the first invite I sent :D

...I would love to be proved wrong* ;) ...Two cricket games popping up after years of neglect is quite remarkable.

*or just have a really good poker face and be busy that weekend

Well would you mind answering about the demo release or the complete release of the game? Very much excited to know about the release.Expecting a reply. Thanks :)

With all of our previous games we have had focus group sessions, we hold these in Melbourne (sorry to those further afield), to get feedback from the public. I will let people here know when there will be an opportunity to try the game for yourselves.

We have also done many public play sessions at EB Games, they support us quite well, I would expect we would also be doing those in Melbourne as well. More details on those will also follow.

Any idea of an open beta testing online for those who are not in Melbourne, before the official demo? :)

Woooo! BigAnt Community is alive. Great to see you ross being involved with the community. I can understand due to various reasons you may not be able to answer my questions, but please answer whatever you can.

1. As from my previous post, the preset field used by AI are rediculous, please revert back to old games to see what i am trying to see. My question rather than few preset field to choose from for AI, Can't BigAnt implement a smart captain AI? i.e. A captain starts with a standard field in ODI 2 slips, point, cover, mid off, third man, fine leg, mid on, mid wicket or square leg. And after every 2 overs in odi's system recognises that user playing is edging too much, so AI maybe take out a Mid wicket and put him in gully, and then it resets agin for AI to think after 2 overs and see that i have attacked a little on leg side and place that gully back to mid wicket, and at times AI chose to reflect where bowler the bowler is bowling. He might need a short fine leg, so AI makes that change. I know it requires a degree of calculations and wouldbe hard to implement a mart AI, but it will be reat.

2. Would we see different animation for every shot? i.e. 2 or 3 different style of cover drives for an examples.

3. Can we upload like a custom tournaments for online?

4. Other really frustrating thing in past cricket games was, it does feel as if we hve earned a wicket, i would want a gripping AI where i have to work really hard so each wicket is like an achievement. likeswise same for batting past games were to easy to hit boundries and sixes.

5. In past games player scaled model players seem to big for the stadiums, but what i really liked about RL2 was the massive stadium atmosphere. I hope you do same with the cricket title.

6. Is there like a manager mode too, based on your posts? I have never played fifa so i do not know what is a BE A PRO! but is it like a indivudal player career mode type? if it is so then this is not included in this cricket title is it? or if i am wrong then are we going to see a individual player career mode?

7. How extensive is your tutorial goings to be, as this game is going to be very different from the others.???

8. Will there be a third person camera view? or will only be able to play on a television broadcast view??

Thanks Ross,

i will come back with more questions later on.....

@Ross
1)Regarding career mode plz tell me you can play more than 10 years (endless years would be awesome just like ICC and CC games)

2)Is the dynamic weather and changing pitch conditions merely a cosmetic thing or it actually effects gameplay ? like more swing in overcast condition more steep/low bounce on 4th/5th day pitch etc.

3)Will there be different shot animations for different types of batsmen ? say players who play according to the text book (Clarke) and players who play unorthodox cricket (eg Sehwag) and then there are tailenders who play very ugly shots.

4)Will there be different bowling actions for fast/medium pacers and spin bowlers?

5)How you gonna implement different nature and style of cricketers from various region like majority of players from subcontinent have dodgy technique and they should struggle big time against pace and movement ,similarly players from Eng ,Aus, Saf struggles against quality spin bowling.

Plz answer atleast 1 and 5 if you can.

You did mention about your history in the industry. While we try to extract other juicy details from you on the rest of the threads, why not fill us in with how this project was born and what made you give it a green signal? 'You did mention it was your pet project too...'

Like many here I have enjoyed Cricket games of the past but I have always thought that they were mostly along the same theme, lots of markers and mini-games almost like it was some sort of dance-dance-revolution on a joypad. I have always wanted to play a cohesive game with a consistent flow where you felt a part of everything that was going on, that you were a part of a team, and where it is just as much fun to bowl/field as it is to bat.

I guess it's a pretty boring story really, I just like Cricket and am surrounded by friends, family and staff that also love the game. If nothing else we will bring a different perspective and the game will be like nothing you have encountered before.

It's not a boring story around here. At the risk of blowing the Planetcricket trumpet you'll hopefully get a sense from reviews of previous games how we don't quite think cricket has been "got right" yet.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading today :)

It's 1.30am here in Melbourne and this has been a little bit of a marathon so I think I might retire for the night. I will try to get back over the next couple of days to respond to questions that are outstanding. Crazily enough I will probably post more on weekends and after hours than during the day as in case you didn't know - I have a Cricket game to finish!! :D

You have sure as hell impressed the lot of us with your responsiveness. I hope this communication continues till and after release of the much anticipated title of yours.
