Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Melbourne marathon... I see what you did their. Cheers again for the snappy replies all day yesterday.

No worries.

Yeah, the marathon was on my mind - my father just ran his 36th Melbourne marathon yesterday and my brother his 29th (they've done 29 together as a father and son team) - my son is hoping to do it in a couple of years so they can do a "three generation" marathon together (he's 16 and not allowed to do it until he's 18). I've never run more than 100m in my life of course :)

Well I would say please dont just keep on asking questions. Kindly read this thread Questions and Answers and then post questions that are not answered. Ross is doing his best by answering all and please dont ask repetitive questions, instead look at the thread, it may have your questions already answered.

Hi ross

Just wanted to know about the sounds in the game
Like the sound of leather on wood, most games in the past
like ic2010 were weak in this area, also wicketkeeper talking to
you when you miss a shot or nick to the slips and almost get out.
Bowlers getting angry when you hit him for 4 or 6 or miss a shot

So are you guys recording the real thing not just few small sounds like the past.

Also if you do get state teams from aus then we can move them into the aus team if not licensed.:yes

Hey Ross, I know you have had problems in the past with music for your games so I had an idea for this one!

What about some sort of partnership with Triple J Unearthed to get lots of local music into the game? It would be good because securing the licenses would (hopefully) be reasonably cheap (meaning you can get lots of music!) and it would also benefit other local industries. :thumbs

I am not really going to ask about gameplay since Ross they are not ready to reveal it yet. But can I get the answers in Yes/No for following questions. I don't need explanations if they are not included. I am satisfied what you already are providing. :)

UDRS?
Challenge Mode? (Anything where we have to complete a specific objective)
Injuries?
Boundary Music in T20's?
Different Chants varying by country?
Trophy Cabinet/Achievements?
Large variety of shots with 360 degree batting?
Different Camera Angles?

I think this is more important than people make out. One of my favourite things about cricket is the sound of willow on leather, and the reactions of the crowd. I've never played a sports game that has got the crowd right.

In addition to that, the batsman's stance has to be right as well. Only Brian Lara 99 got anywhere near the correct stance of a batsman, and it makes a huge difference with the feel of the game.

Sound is extremely important to us, if you watch TV with the sound off it's less than half of the experience. We will be making sure that there are good audio queues in the game and that it is atmospheric as possible (If you look at the RLL2 Grand Final clip linked here somewhere in one of the threads I think you will get the idea with regard to atmosphere).

Im wondering if you implementing bat meets ball sound with respect to stump mic...which is what we hear on tv or the real time sound?

Sound is such a huge aspect for me, personally. Because that's the "real" part of the game. The Graphics are important, because that gives you the visual cues, but it's the sound that immerses you in the game, because you can (and should) duplicate the actual noise of balls being hit, appealing, crowds etc with half-decent recording gear. One of the weakest points in almost every cricket game has been the sound, I think it's never had justice given to it. Especially the "different" noises of ball-hitting-bat. There's literally thousands of different sonic cues for timing, slogs, boundarys, blocking. There's no way a game can hope to replicate them all but I really hope that's something that gets a lot of love from any cricket game is those true-to-life sounds of a ball being blocked, belted or a batsman getting bowled.

Such a huge detail thing, like graphics, it's easy to get it done, simple to get wrong but more difficult to get just right.

OFF TOPIC:

just because we're really proud of him, have to post a picture of my son in law Ben meeting the Australian Prime Minister in India today:

Cricket Australia's Photos | Facebook

He loves the camera - I think he's in every possible shot on the Cricket Australia Facebook page :)

Any possibility for a screenshot fromt he current uniform???? ;):D:p

Congrats Ross, really a talented guy. He seems calm even when shaking hands with PM. A normal meeting for him probably, eh?

Lol, he's just a cool guy under pressure :)

This is his second tour and he's loving it, to the point that he said he wouldn't mind living over there.
