Don Bradman Cricket 17 PAX Live Stream Discussion

In the stream it was mentioned that side on hotspot would be included in a patch after the first release. Would we have to restart our career mode for these changes/additions to take effect?

I only ask because I remember when DBC14 came out there were issues around batsman bowling first etc and when it was updated we needed to restart our career mode.

I've read somewhere that the teams will not remain 'locked' at the start of the career this time and will be dynamic.

Can we expect the same with other elements like patches, updated kit, updates for bug fixes etc...?

How will the sliders be applied in game? Will they be applied to a stadium in the creator to determine the individual characteristics of each pitch or in the menu to set on an individual match basis?

Would be nice as a default to have Bunsen burners in Bangladesh, car parks in the UAE, hooping swingers in England and fast decks in Oz/SA.

These sliders... If they get turned to max is the game going to become a bit ridiculous or unrealistic? Or will they still be within the realms of professional cricket?!

I would reckon they would become unrealistic, that would be the purpose of slider settings, right? Change it according to your needs. Want it real? Set it to default. Want it to be fun? Set it to max.

True, but to karolkarol's point above, each pitch should have it's own characteristics depending on where in the world it is - Bangladesh/India/UAE big turners... Australia fast and bouncy, England greenish with seam/swing movement.

So, I guess my question is: will individual pitches have realistic characteristics depending on their location, or will we have to tweak things using the sliders? - So you might start a game in Bangladesh on what looks to be a perfectly flat, pristine batting track but we would have to use the sliders to turn it into a worn track which takes spin? And would the pitch characteristics (or lack of them, if they aren't applied) going to affect team lineups?

You'd pick 3 or 4 spinners in Bangladesh, rather than 3 or 4 pace bowlers - but if the pitch is just a 'normal/standard' pitch which then needs tweaking in match, are the team lineups not going to be a bit unrealistic?

Hope that makes sense! Just interested in how it's going to work!

I think you guys are over thinking these sliders. Different pitches always had different characteristics in 14 even if they were minimal, I imagine it's the same for 17 with hopefully more differentiation this time.

From what I see here the sliders are going to be a general setting which cover all your game modes, except online multiplayer of course.

Are we seeing academy attributes have a more noticeable affect in this game or is it too early to tell?

From bowling, spin bowlers with higher attributes are getting noticably more turn and bounce than ones with low attributes. Seam movement is similarly more pronounced for quality bowlers.

Lower quality batsman seem to be edging the ball more, especially when trying more aggressive shots. Maybe they don't get their feet closer to the ball either, but that could really just be me being a bit crap at the game.

Sounds encouraging. I meant more from an AI batsman point of view where there wasn't enough difference between Chris Martin and Ricky Ponting in how they went about batting.

May be early to ask. Are these sliders gonna be effective in online matches as well. IMO if players can use these sliders in online it would bring lot more frustration in online gameplay.

Player may set the bowling speed to minimum and players attributes helping to bowl to slow as well and use only slow bouncers.

Or set all sliders to maximum and same with player attributes and bowl and bat with full over rated teams.

Both are not gonna be good.

Generally online games have their locked down set of sliders/settings which you can't change. For example in Madden the default settings are the 'All Pro' slider settings for any ranked online game. I'm sure DBC 17 will follow a similar approach with a default difficulty and slider settings for online ranked games.

You'd hope for custom online matches that aren't ranked you can edit them though.

Something like what @blockerdave and @cricket_online wanted...you could set up each detail such as Amount of Spin turn and other stuff to your own wish. You could literally calibrate your own version to your liking. Plus it's going to be in today's update :)

Thank you @BigAntStudios ! With the length indicator displayed earlier, slider settings to allow users to customize gameplay as per user preference, stadium creator and an in-depth career mode, you have literally incorporated most of the feedback from DBC 14. TBH I wasn't sure all of these items would make it to DBC 17 but I'm pleasantly surprised. Kudos to Big Ant team and a big thanks to everyone involved :clap

And that may very well be the case here too. TBH if we get a stable online game with standard OOB difficulty and standard settings I will be more than happy :)

Reminds me of the last game I played online against Mumbai Indians. Every player in the team including Rohit Sharma was a tear away left arm fast bowler. I never played online after that.
