ING Cup ? Game 2
Queensland Bulls Vs Victorian Bushrangers
The Gabba, Brisbane
6th November 2006

Slatter now with an inflated sense of confidence need?s only one more wicket and that is the wicket of Mitchell Johnson who?s ability wit the bat is novice at best. Its should be a Victorian win here.

Maybe not an easy win afterall it has gone the other way and now Victoria in big trouble Slatter need's dot balls here!

Queensland Bulls require 7 runs from 4 balls

ING Cup ? Game 2

Slatter has the pressure of a state on his back here and one false move may spell the end as Johnson will be looking for anything loose. Victoria with it all to loose here.

The dot ball mean?s the two teams are on level pegging this one can go either way but which way will it be?

Queensland Bulls require 7 runs from 3 balls

One more dot ball here should be enough for the Victorian?s to get home in a nail biter but can Slatter produce it?

Johnson continues to play the fairy tale innings with another boundary but how long can he ride the dream with just two balls remaining?

Queensland Bulls require 3 runs to win off 2 balls

ING Cup ? Game 2
Queensland Bulls Vs Victorian Bushrangers
The Gabba, Brisbane

Slatter changes the field for the 2nd last ball bringing fine leg and 3rd man inside the circle as he now knows if Johnson hits the boundary the Bushrangers lose!

Here comes Slatter to the applause of the crowd in his home town to win the game. Can he keep Johnson from scoring 3 runs off the 2 balls that remain?

Johnson misses a golden opportunity to end the match now after Slatter gets lucky break with his Yorker that turned into a full toss. It?s up to the battle of Slatter and Johnson to see who wins this ING Cup match from the Gabba tonight.

This is it the final ball of the match with it all in the balance. It?s young Mitchell Johnson on strike who?s bowling has been said to be the future of Australian cricket but it?s not his bowling that?s require. The man delivering is also a youngster Jesse Slatter the Victorian in just his 2nd ING Cup game has it all to do.

ING Cup ? Game 2

The Victorian Bushrangers in the end walk out winners by the smallest of margins. What a win considering that a loss would have had them at 2 losses from 2 games and on the bottom of the table. Jesse Slatter shows why the selectors picked him in the side managing to show determination in a tight situation to get the Vic?s over the line. What a game of cricket! Full credit to the Bulls who looked down and out but fought back only to lose.

Unfortunately there wasn?t to much time to celebrate for the Victorian boys after a thrilling one run win at the Gabba as our next match starts on Thursday. We fly out today for the Adelaide Oval, which will be our home for the Pura Cup game against the South Australian Redbacks. The boys are feeling good about the game as we should be starting favorites. The flight over to Adelaide was a quiet one as most of the boys were keen to catch up on some sleep from last night but not Slats. I really didn?t feel like sleeping so I took the liberty of dim siming all of Adam Crosthwaites hand luggage. For those people who are oblivious to the art of dim siming it is when you take all of the contents out of someone bag turn it inside out and they put everything back in. It was incredibly funny to see the poor bloke wake up and discover what I had done and it was even funnier when I blamed it on Jon Moss.

Since we have little time to prepare for the next game the team was announced on board the plane and we were told the rest of the team would meet us in Adelaide. The side looks like this.

Arnberger
Klinger
Moss
Hodge
Hussey
Slatter
White
Crosthwaite
Harwood
Wise
Lewis

Touching down in the city of churches wasn?t the most exciting experience as the place is a boring as buggery and not much goes on here at all from what I?ve seen. The team has a very brief training session tomorrow just to make sure we are right going into the game on Thursday. I have also been contacted about another radio opportunity. It turns out Triple M back home in Melbourne will be getting hold of me shortly to do an interview about my match winning effort at the Gabba so there?s something for the general public to look forward to.

Nice to see this thread getting a lot more replies then the ICC Best of the Rest one.

Very well deserved :clap

Hopefully we can get a few more good quality stories like the one soon. Great win for the Vics also. Great comeback :)
