England in Australia

the waca has been a spinners pitch all season...its been slow and flat, much like this pitch. i sure hope it's not a boring draw like last year cause for some reason they've decided to charge members an extra 20 bucks per day to get a decent seat. Highway robbery...I can't imagine how hard it's going to be this year to get a beer...considering the bar is about half the size of the old one and they're somehow managing to squeeze in 3000 odd extra members.

but there's been a few baking hot days here lately which we never had last summer..so maybe the pitch might be a bit quicker. it's climate change I tell you....

...or maybe those whispers about CA trying to get 5 days out of every test is true? In our hey day when the pitches truly did offer everyone something, it was rare to get to lunch on the 4th day. What a disaster that would be. We can't rely on rain to wash out the odd session so perhaps perparing flat pitches is the only way to get to 5 days?

Even if we take all of the Barmy Army's money...i'm sure they might be a little confident they might get all of it back and more by droipping a few dollars at the bookies? England $17 for the series (Aussies at $1.07)? $10 for a drawn series? $7 for england to win this test? Those odds are simply ridiculous.

this test will be a draw and i think the next one will too, england can bat but cannot bowl so far

as you can see we have a young(ish) bowling attack, we could do with someone with more experience like gough

So, Englands bowlers in theory are all in their prime and so if they cannot bowl Australia out in a test match they are in deep poo :p

Don't be so naiive just yet; If we get the good Harmison tomorrow then we have every chance of bowling out Australia twice. We also need the '"2003 World Cup" Anderson, the "Jo'Burg 2004" Hoggard and the....erm....Giles.

Gough? Hildreth? Are you secretly an Aussie!

Gough should never play test cricket again, and Hildreth whilst talented only averages 36 in FC cricket.

Edit - you also mentioned playing Lewis... By god lad it's far too early to be on the shandys.. maybe you are an Aussie :p

Edit again - Anyone else notice that with just a short spell to bowl Freddie was up there at 90mph again :happy

Summer of 2004 Giles and we'll win by an innings. :p

the good times, if our bowlers all performed like those grt moments we would be number 1

Now to put a positive spin on the last 2 days...

We'll get away with a draw at least, this pitiful English bowling attack won't be able to bowl us out once in 3 days on this pitch, let alone twice. Could they have batted any slower? Geez it's no wonder it took the Poms so long to win the Ashes, they're happy to accept a draw. A hint Mr Fletcher: THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH! You won the Ashes last year because you ATTACKED, your players backed themselves. Now you've gone back to this piss poor, pathetic game plan where you play weak excuses for players (Giles, Jones) in place of players who while being slightly riskier (Panesar, Read) can WIN you games. The only way to beat Australia is to take the game up to us. It's no good "strengthening" your batting line up in hope we'll make a mistake, that won't happen, and if it does we can cover it. You have to attack and FORCE us to make a mistake. I hope England sack him after this series, he has NFI about One Day cricket and this series has shown he has absolutely no idea how to take it up to the big teams. For crying out loud Fletcher get your god damn act together.

You ought to look at Ponting and Warne's tactics before calling our batting slow...

And why are you so upset with Fletcher? The feelings mutual between all English fans but why are you so worked about it? Surely it's for your teams benefit?
