England in Australia

He was in awesome touch yet again too. Those two are usually very good runners. Anderson had a good game so far and Monty looking quite dangerous.

Harmy was still bowling some short wider ones today but managed to get Hayden that way so a mixed bowling effort for Harmy

Yeah, Harmy has been causing problems for Clarke with the short and apparently wide one but what Clarke hasn't cottoned to yet is that Harmy changes it subtly so that it's too close to cut and so Harms got him out slashing again today. Great bowling.

can't wait for symo tomorrow morning! :D

Why you meeting him somewhere? Shouldn't worry mate, he won't be long if last night is anything to go by!

Classic shot when they flashed the dressing room after his two, shall we say uninhibited slogs, in the last over of the day - Ponting sitting there shaking his head in a cross between disbelief, horror and embarrasment.

You could almost see him thinking, if you lob a catch up now, you're never playing for me again!

His hundred against some sloppy bowling at Melbourne seems to have overshadowed the fact that he's one of the worst Aussie Test selections since Scott Muller.

We should've bowled Monty straight from those last 11.5 overs as we'd have had a chance of Symonds giving us chances, after all he was close to getting ou in that 1 over.

Unusual day, disappointed Fred couldn't reach his 100, JD really should've played 1) because the SCG offers assistance for spinners and 2) it lengthens the batting.

Harmison bowled well, he's been really economical over the last 2 tests, Monty cause Hussey some problems and could've had him twice caught off of the pads had Strauss not have jumped to avoid the drive and Bell standing a little closer.

An 11PM start for the british users tonight so I'll get to watch an hour and a half or more, great throw by Jimmy to dismiss Ponting who looked in decent form, with that Jimmy nullified his poor short bowling to Ponting. Harmison was impressive as was Monty.

yet worryingly he has more runs in two tests than almost our entire top and lower-middle order have mustered all series.

Meh, we've still got one innings left to change that. :p

Agree with just about all of that. Especially should have bowled Monty at the end because he makes batsman play, and is about the only person to actually look like he has Hussey in trouble at times.

Whilst a good knock from Fred, was a pretty irresponsible way to get out, could have easily ticked off another 20 odd runs at least that could prove fairly important. I also agree about JD, yet again we've played 4 seamers, of which only 3 are going to bowl any overs. If not him for his spin option and they are happy with KP, then just bite the bullet and pick the specialist batsman in Joyce.

Would allow another leftie in the middle order to cause a nice break up of left-right handers. We would have actually stood a half decent chance of making 350 plus with one more specialist batsman.

Not really sure why they think that if our 3 supposed best seamers can't take 8 wickets or so, then another one chucked in there will do any better.

well i hope people stop "bigging-up" Read as a batsmen..

I admit GOJO has been poor..but READ is just out of his depth..looked like a tailender.

Maybe Batty of Surrey will be given his chance..
