3rd Match Stanford Series, Barbados
Middlesex 176/5 lost to Allstars 177/3 by 7 wickets
Skipper Chris Gayle celebrating the win
Stanford All Stars beat Middlesex by seven wickets in the 3rd Twenty20
International in Barbados, Chris Gayle hitting 73.
Middlesex had posted 176-5 in their 20 overs, captain Eion Smith
top-scoring with 86.
But All-Stars won with 10 balls to spare as they eased to victory
with Middlesex uncharacteristically sloppy in the field.
The All-Stars opener enjoyed a 92-run partnership with Chanderpaul (35)
,Sarwan hit an unbeaten on 31 as All-Stars won for the second time
at home.
Middlesex had won the toss and Smith led the way with a 53-ball 86
which included 15 fours before he edged Ryan Emrit onto his stumps.
Despite losing Andrew Strauss in the first over, Middlesex got off
to a typically bullish start, reaching 58-1 off six overs, before Ed
Joyce (17) edged a Dave Mohammed delivery onto his stumps.
Smith then put on 60 with Nick Compton before the latter was run
out for 20 by Mohammed as the batsmen dithered in the middle.
Smith and Billy Godleman (25 not out) ensured Middlsex finished with
a competitive total despite the best efforts of Mohammed (1-17).
All-Stars lost Xavier Marshall (5) early on, edging Chris Silverwood
behind, but were in three figures before the next wicket fell, Shiv
Chanderpaul doing the same to a Kartik delivery.
After Gayle went with 24 needed from 26 balls, is fell to Ramnaresh
Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo to steer the hosts, to victory, which they
did with a series of huge boundaries.
