England in the driving seat

Ian Bell and Matt Prior had given England the perfect start they needed in the first 5 overs by scoring 37 runs. But the next phase was more important for England as the power-play overs had finished. Ed Smith gave Tim Murtagh who was bowling very poorly a last over of his expensive spell so far. But Murtagh bowled good compare to his first two overs by giving just 6 singes in his third over. The time had come and Ed Smith had decided to turn toward his spinners as he handed the ball to the most experiencne 37 year old off spinner Shaun Udal. Smith expected some breakthroughs from this former Surrey Spinner. But Matt Prior had other thoughts as Udal was welcomed to the party with a brilliantly lofted shot over mid off for four. But later Udal troubled Prior and conceded only 4 singles of the next 5 balls.

Many of the commentators thought Murali Kartik would be given the ball but Smith turned towards his allrounder, in form of Eion Morgan. Who has been in good form in the county season. But it was Ian Bell who took on Morgan. Morgan was welcomed with another lofted shot over mid off for four. Next ball he was smashed over point for another boundary and the third ball, Bell hooked him over short fine leg for another boundary. Bell was on song today and it was no way stopping him.But Morgan made a good comeback and conceded just 1 run of the next three balls. Middlesex were in trouble and needed wicket desperately but it didnt happen. Bell and Prior played some sensible cricket against the offspinner Udal. Bell brought up his brilliant fifty with a glance towards fine leg. Udal gave away 9 runs from his second over. But again Morgan continued from the other end. But this time out Morgan gave away just 6 singles of his over second over.

D.Llyod: England are in the driving seat at the moment thanks to this brilliant first wicket partnership. Middlesex need to get some breakthroughs and quikly or else i can see England running away with this match.

England are scoring at a decent pace... If they don't loose any wicket in next 3 overs, they will get 180 with ease...

Nice presentation Shan... Keep Up! :clap

Prior Departs but England still on top

After a brilliant start by the two openers in teh first ten overs England were in driving seat. It was now all hitting in the last ten over with ten wickets remaining for England. Middlesex on the other hand were on the receiving end. Finally Ed Smith gave the ball to the Indian left arm spinner Mrali Kartik. Kartik was very impressive in his first over as he went for just four singles. Eion Morgan continued from the other end. And again England started attacking the medium pacer. Rior smashed Morgan over his head for a boundary. Morgan gave away 10 runs in his third over of the spell. Again a huge surprise Udal was given the ball instead of Kartik who had bowled a very good first over. England openers initially found Udal's turn difficult to hit but they kept on rotating the strike. With which Matt Prior reached his well deserved 50 of just 35 balls.

Morgan continued from the other end. He bowled some great yorkers in the first five balls giving 5 singles before Bell smashed him inside out over extra cover for a boundary. It was just one of the days when Bell was just unstoppable. Morgan ended his quota of overs by conceding 9 runs of the last over and 37 runs in his 4 overs. Udal was given the last over of his expensive spell. First ball itself Prior gave away strike to Bell who next ball cut Udal over short third man for a boundary and next gave strike back to Prior. But this time the breakthrough finally came. Prior charging down and trying to go over midwicket dint read the offspiner and ended bowled. Udal celebrated his first wickets and Prior departed for 54 of 38 balls. Next man in was Middlesex player Owais Shah. He straight away got off the mark with the flick of the pads for a couple towards fine leg. Udal was on top the next two balls and conceded no runs of them. So at the end of 15 overs England were 125/1.

N.Hussain: England are in the driving seat. With still 9 wickets in hand England must be hoping for a score around 170's. Ian Bell has played brilliant so far and he would now be more aggressive in the last 5 overs of the innings.

Nice Update England should get 170+ from this Great innings by Prior. Bell hopefully should get his 100 if he carries on KUTGW!

Thats a good RR..England would reach 175+ i hope.Great innings from Prior and Bell.Bell must reach his Century.

Great update mate.KUTGW!

170 should be the par score or England... If Bell stays on, they should get there comfortably...

England set 188 as target for Crusaders

England had just lost one wickets in the first fifteen overs. They still had the dangerous Ian bell who had played brilliantly scoring 67 in 49 balls while Middlesex player Owais Shah had just come to the crease. Murali Kartik was given the ball. He was brilliant in his firt over by giving away just 4 runs and now again he bowled brilliantly giving away 6 runs of the second over without conceding any boundaries. After a good two overs from Kartik, ED Smith turned towards out of form Tim Murtagh and gave him the last over of his spell. Murtagh had gone for 23 runs in his 3 overs he again was welcomed with a delighful shot over Cover for boundary by Ian Bell. But again Murtagh came back well and conceded just 8 runs of the remaining 5 balls. Kartik continued from the other side. Middlesex needed some quick wickets and they did get. Owais Shah decided to hit the accelerator and went for a huge slog over mid wicket by completely missed the ball and was cleaned bowled. Shah departed for 9 of 10 balls as skipper Kevin Pietersen came in to bat. Pietersen got of the mark straight away with a delightful boundary over the bowlers head. Kartik was a bit expensive has he went for 8 of his third over including a boundary.

England were in the a great position with just two overs left. Silverwood was in his last over of the spell and Crusaders would need him to stop the runs flow. But it did happen. Change of pace did the trick as Silverwood bowled a slow leg cutter Ian bell went to free his arms but completely mistimed it and was caught at long off by Eion Morgan. A brilliant innings had come to an end. Ian Bell recieved a standing avation as he departed for 81 of 59 balls. Paul Collingwood came in the middle. He got of the mark straight away with a single giving his skipper the strike. Pietersen decided to attack. he smashed Chris Silverwood for a huge six over the cover region. Skipper played sensible cricket has he rotated the strike back to Collingwood. But now was Collingwood who smashed two back to back boundaries on the off side beating the third man. This over turned out to be a very expensive one as Silverwood conceded 16 runs of the over. Murali Kartik was given the last over of the match. Kartik had bowled economically by giving away just 18 runs in his first three overs. But this time out it was something different as Pietersen smashed Kartik out of the crowd for a huge six over mid wicket. The next ball Pietersen smashed him on the off side through the covers and point for a boundary. 10 runs in 2 balls. But Middlesex saw the back of Collingwood as he was run out the next ball while running for the third run. New Man in was dangerous Freddie. He was on strike and straight away he smashed the Indian spinner for four over the bowler's head. But Kartik came back well as the last ball of the innings was played and missed by Flintoff.

I.Botham: Its over, England have batted brlliantly as they go back to the pavilion with a score of 187 for the loss of 4 wickets on the board. Crusaders need 188 in 20 overs at a run rate of 9.4 runs per over.
