Sky Sports Cricket Chat

David Gower: Hello and Welcome to Sky Sports Cricket chat for the second Twenty 20 match of the Stanford 20/20 for 20 series. We just witnessed brilliant all round cricket played by the Stanford Allstars when they defeated Trinidad the Twenty 20 champions of West Indies quite easily. But today we expect for more as the English national side will take on the Twenty 20 Cup Champions Middlesex. With me in the studio I have David Lloyd. David what do you think of today's game?

David Lloyd: Yesterday's match was just amazing and entertaining to watch well I hope today's match will be more entertaining. Its gonna be really exciting to see the English National Team take on their own county cricket club Middlesex. All would predict England to win but its going to be a hard fought battle today and Middlesex we give their best to create a shock. Its also gonna be exciting to watch owais Shah play against his own county. He was the important played for Middlesex this season and it would very difficult for them to play without him. All of us expect a lot of runs and lot of sixes to be scored today.

David Gower: Thanks David and now without wasting any times lets get down to Ian Botham to know more about the pitch.

Pitch Report

Ian Botham: Thanks David, as you all can see there is now cloud in the sky and the temperature ideal for Twenty 20 cricket. its not that hot nor that cold. The humidity is slightly on the higher side but wont have a major role today. Looking at the pitch now its hard and will have a even bounce through out the game. There are some rough patches which the spinners would like to exploit especially the Middlesex spinners Murali Kartik and Shaun Udal would love to bowl. But conditions are perfect for batting and I would say bat first on such a wicket. The outfield would be a bit wet as the dew settles down. A score of around 170-200 would be a good one to defend. But surely its gonna be a tough battle between the two sides. Back to you David.

David Gower: Thanks Ian, pitch looks same to one we saw last night. So we migh be expecting some huge scores here today. Now lets go down to Nasser Hussain who is with the two captains.

Toss

Nasser Hussain: Thanks a lot David, I have Kevin Pietersen and Ed Smith with me. Ed has the coin.

Kevin Pietersen: Heads

Nasser Hussain: Heads is the call and its heads. KP what would you do first?

Kevin Pietersen: The pitch looks good and will help our batsman so we would bat first.

Nasser Hussain: Whats the composition of the team?

Kevin Pietersen: its the same team we played against South Africa. Ian and Matt will open for us. Ryan misses out as he is not fully fit.

Nasser Hussain: Thanks KP and good luck.

Kevin Pietersen: Thanks Nasser.

Nasser Hussain: Ed, how tough and important this game would be for Middlesex?

Ed Smith: Its a very game to prove to the whole world that we have good team. It going to be very hard to play against the best players from England but its gonna be exciting at the same time.

Nasser Hussain: Whats the composition of you side?

Ed Smith: We go with two spinners Kartik who has been impressive whole season and the experienced Shaun. Strauss and Edmud would open for us.

Nasser Hussain: Ok Thanks a lot Ed good luck for the match.

Ed Smith: Thanks Nasser.

Nasser Hussain: So the new from the centre here is the Kevin Pietersen has won the toss and he has decided to bat first. Back to you David in the studio.

David Gower: An easy decision for Kevin there. Lets have a look at the lineups of the two sides.

England: 1)Ian Bell 2)Matt Prior(wk) 3)Owais Shah 4)Kevin Pietersen(c) 5)Paul Collingwood 6)Andrew Flintoff 7)Samit Patel 8)Luke Wright 9)Stuart Broad 10)James Anderson 11)Steve Harmison

David Gower: The two batsman are making their way in the middle. Stay Tuned as Sky Sports will bring you all live action from the first ball after a short break.

Nice and even squads for both teams. Shantanu I must say that so far this has got to be your best story to date.

Fantastic works!

Great update! :) C'mon England!!!!!!!!!

Nice update there.

But I was just wondering, your PC got formatted, so why didn't you loose the save files of this if you lost the save files of the Arsenal story??

He hasn't actually played any games yet. I think he made up the scorecard for the other game.

Dr. Pepper added 0 Minutes and 48 Seconds later...

EDIT: Or maybe he made up an excuse for not wanting to do it anymore. :p

I am gonna play all the games as exhibition so last game I played was an exhibition match. And second thing, I on Friday had copied my cricket 2007 root folder on a DVD as my friend needed the patches and the roster so I still have cricket 2007 with all patches.

England of to a Perfect Start

The England openers walked out onto the pitch knowing that this game was going to be intensive and that they needed to get off to a good start. Chris Silverwood who has bowled particularly well during the recent County Season was going to open the bowling. Bell had a look at the field before Silverwood ran up to deliver the first ball. Silverwood bowled a brilliant opening over and only gave away 3 runs. Next up to bowl was Tim Murtagh who was not in good form with his bowling. Ian Bell started to pick Murtagh off as he was clearly showing he was not in form at all. The loose balls were smashed to the boundary. Silverwood continued from the other end. Bell did not play as aggressively to Silverwood as he was to Murtagh . The pitch was starting to trouble the England batsmen as there was some swing for the bowlers.

After 3 overs England were 22/0. They were making steady progress. Ian Bell was completely dominating. Murtagh started the fourth over. The first ball was smashed over the bowler's head for a boundary. The second ball was a bouncer and was brilliantly hooked for four. Murtagh was not bowling very well and Middlesex skipper Ed Smith had to do something about it.

Silverwood had only gone for 12 runs in his 2 overs and now he was about to start his 3rd over of his spell. Silverwood bowled a wide delivary and Bell played a brilliant late cut and the ball reached the fence for yet another boundary for Bell. A total of 8 runs came of that Chris Silverwood's over and England had the upper hand after 5 overs.

Ian Bishop: Well, Ed Smith has to think a lot. I think he should bring the spinners Shaun Udal and Murali Kartik on as his paceman are going for many runs
.

---------------

England 37/0
I.Bell 25(21)
M.Prior 12(9)

C.Silverwood 3-0-20-0
T.Murtagh 2-0-17-0

Bell has trampled all over the opening bowlers. Prior has taken a slower approach and let Bell do the work, I think Prior is looking at the long game. Great start for England.
